MP5 mags are cheap as hell. You can get a box of 10 STAR mags for like $50.

sorry those two lines were seperate, i know how to get age verified, but i couldnt find a list of gear i would need for the border wars in the rules and procedures thingy
and if a wal mart gun is no good, I guess Im buying that broxa, but is it a strict requirement that it be painted black, or just a suggestion? I know I don't really want to, and my parents wound definately shit themselves.

Well, you're probably right. The cost will be up there once you get them shipped and all. I've seen the star set for $50... can't remember where though.

The game is milsim. If you're happy with a clear gun when everyone else is using one that's painted black, that's fine. You will get looks though. Border Wars is not a simple skirmish -it's a day long military simulation game with strict ammunition and equipment requirements.

i know where i can get 10 30 round MP5 mags, but its 80 bucks, and i can get 200 round hicaps for only 18, so thats way cheaper >.< anyways, where can i find these equipment guidelines. ive looked over the site, but im noob, and i dont know where everything is yet, i just joined like 2 days ago.

No. Paint will not see any of my guns. They have enough paint transfer from the old Flag Raiders as it is.

Factory paint and all metal glory!

there will be an ammo limitation as per a point system that will tell you how many mags you can carry. You will be able to peruse everything when you get age verified. Rules, instructions, and directions to the site are located within the Boarder Wars III forum.

Ease down Boys

Military Simulation has a lot more to do with behavior than with equipment.

I could give a rats ass if someone is running a clear receiver gun and low rent kit if they move well, shoot straight, communicate and do as they are told.

When gearing up.. buy the best you can afford.. and make the best of what you have.

You want in the game.. then read the rules.. get informed, and if you are not sure about something ASK THE QUESTION.

the only stupid question is the one that is not asked.

There is lots of time to gear up... in particular at TAC-09 feb 21 in toronto.. one stop gear up ..

Yes, because of course I meant everyone with a black gun will apply an additional coat of black paint

If you want to use a hi-cap. Hi-caps have disadvantages. You have to wind them, and IMO especially in milsim, they make a very distinctive rattle making it very difficult to move quietly. Besides, reloading in the middle of a firefight is totally fun! I also don't like them because they don't encourage trigger control. Nothing pisses me off more in a game than getting hosed at with a 10 second burst by some nob with a 400 round mag in an assault rifle or SMG.

Or if you're on a tight budget when the date gets closer see about renting a gun from somebody who will attend. I'm sure there will be some rentals avaliable from the community of some fairly decent guns and you might get the magazines and stuff with it. However if your brand new my suggestion would be to go to a few local games before BW to try things out first before dropping $100 on a heavily milsim-oriented game.

Thenooblord January 22nd, 2009 13:35

I guess when i go to get age verified I can ask him about all this crap right? and also, why no 3000 round mags allowed? whats the biggest HICAP allowed?

pusangani January 22nd, 2009 13:38

You should play a few smaller skirmishes first, you can even get verified at one, then you won't need to waste money on shitty walmart guns that will get you laughed off the field. You don't sound like you're ready for a game like borderwars, both equipment-wise and mentally, based on your posts.

*edit* that's not flaming so don't delete my post

Crunchmeister January 22nd, 2009 13:40

Buying a $90 clear Walmart gun to bring to Border Wars is like buying a Lada to race in the Daytona 500. While you won't be laughed off the field, you're also going to be at the back of the pack and it won't be much fun.

Drop by TTAC3 .. I can AV you and we can disscuss equipment and getting Started..

Hades January 22nd, 2009 13:49

And please just remember, your attitude and your posts are things looked at by age verifiers. Just because someone is of age does not mean we have to verify them. We have the right to refuse verification if we think someone is not mature enough or has questionable intentions. And if one verifier deems someone not fit to be verified than most likely a large majority if not all the age verifiers in that persons region will not verify them as well.
