I just got the BFM on Friday from R. Nicholls in Mississauga.

I first had to first contact a Camelbak rep directly.

I was initially looking for BFM 500 in the US desert digital camo pattern, but since the US has dropped that camo Camelbak no longer produces any of their packs in that color.

The Camelbak rep directed me to Mike Copman (mike.copeman@rnicholls.com), Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Equipment Divisions @ R. Nicholls.

He was really nice and set me up with the pack in Coyote.
They had to order the pack from their Quebec location (which only took a day) to the Mississauga store, which I then picked-up in person.

Give Mike an email, I am sure he will be more than happy to help out with any Camelbak or other pack questions/requests.

Hope that helps ;)

The H.A.W.G. has been my everyday carry pack since I got in back in 2003.

It has been my favorite pack to date.

But recently, I wanted the option of being able to carry a larger load - so I purchased the B.F.M. 500 which seems to be awesome so far (only had it for a couple days now).

I plan on using the B.F.M. for camping, traveling and airsoft 24hr mil-sim games.

The H.A.W.G. I tend to pack with everyday items like a 15in Powerbook laptop, books, power-cords, extra sweater, etc.

I am still playing around with what the B.F.M. can carry, but it seems like it can take a lot of different stuff - much more than the H.A.W.G (18L vs. 50L of gear) :)

Dimitri January 1st, 2011 21:38

My ALICE Pack, has served me well camping everywhere I brought it to, from local in Ontario all the way out to Oregon's mountains.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...2/DSCF0034.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...2/e655037c.jpg

Or wait you mean newish tactical packs then my ATS Cobra is it. I use it for hunting, for camping (on weekend camp outs), as a travel bag, and anything else I need it for. Its also the only piece of multicam I am planning on keeping around, everything else has been sold off, given away or is in the classified.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...CF0002-1-1.jpg

PS R Nicholls and FN Sports hopefully will go bankrupt and disappear. They are scum. The lowest of the low I ever dealt with.

TB, did you get the H.A.W.G. in Canada?

I was trying to locate a retailer within the country, but could not find one.

Any ideas?

5.11 Tactical Rush 24
Got one of these for Xmas :D I havent taken it out yet but I've used my fathers a couple times before and I love them. I have the OD green and my dads is the coyote brown. It has some pretty sick features that I hadnt noticed when I first got it, theres a sunglasses pouch built in near the handle, a compartment for hydration equipment with pre cut holes to run the tube out and over onto the shoulder where it has little loops to secure it. Cant wait to take it out

I love it. I took it out for a few games and a couples hikes and it survived. Nothing busted on it. My only gripe is the 1000D cordura used. It's rough and sand paper like.

Any recommendations for a pack for a smaller individual. I'm only about 130 pounds. most don't fit me at all and usually these sorts of packs aren't made for women, if you know what I mean.

FOX_111 March 13th, 2011 08:24

An EI partol pack should be fitting. They are small packs to carry radio and ammo/random stuff.

Hmmm I think this should be the right thread for this... I am looking for a pack that will be able to support me for up to 2 - 3 days. I dont want overly bulky either. I am not looking at a massive camping pack, and would not mind having some molle either.

What I need to be able to carry:

- Food - aprox. 4 - 6 field stripped MRE's and snacks
- water - at least 5l
- extra sweater and long sleeve shirt, toque, mits, socks and underwear
- rain jacket and pants
- small burner
- bb's, propane, cleaning kit (when using for airsoft)
- Rifle on side (hunting or airsoft)
- auto inflate sleeping pad and ranger blanket would be carried on the bottom
- extra batteries, flashlight, headlamp

I currently use an ASOLO Wayferer, its comfortable, but is hard to put a lot in due to lack of interior pockets and pouches that would keep things organized.

What would you guys suggest. I am trying to keep the price tag around $200.

Thanks alot!

Conker January 8th, 2012 21:32

Kelty Falcon 4000. Light (not Cordura). Kinda like a civilian pack, but in CB and with MOLLE. If you don't need the ruggedness of miltary cordura pack, it's a great option.

For most extended / non CQB games I rock an RRV without a back panel and I came up with this set up this morning. I took an issue foliage green Camelbak and a Condor go bag, which has molle strips on the back, and I weaved the strips through the side and bottom D rings.
I took it on a nice 3.5K Hike on the Bruce Trail by Mount Nemo in Burlington. It worked really well. I have a long torso so the go bag sat right in the small of my back I didn't even notice the weight.

The Go bag is my day to day E&E bag with various useful things.... Knife, couple flashlights, Mylar blanket, zipties, compass, pens, paper, food, 100' paracord some carabiners, small boo boo kit. There's some heft to it. The rig worked out quite nicely.

I also just ordered the Condor 3-Day assault pack for 24 hour games in tan.

I also have a MEC internal frame pack for non-airsoft related pack needs.

I'm no photographer, but here's pictures of my 100L MR Grizzly from a recent solo camping trip. I'll leave my other packs out, since they're not military packs.

Sweet MR pack Nakes! Thanks for the contribution.

I have been running my MR 3DAP for a couple months now and love it!

ps. non-mil packs are more than welcome aswell :)

Nakes April 20th, 2012 15:41

Cool the 3dap looks really nice! I love my MR too, if I ever buy another pack it will most likely be a MR, the extra weight is entirely offset(and more) by the comfort of their pack.

Here's two other packs of mine. The first is a CamelBak HAWG, which I've owned for about 5 years now and have used intensively and it still seems close to new! I took it on a camping/hiking for fun once instead of a larger pack, plus a fishing rod not pictured! I didnt end up taking the sleeping bag hanging off the bottom, I swapped in the Silver drysack pictured on the Dead Bird with a blanket inside as it was about 1/2 the size. That was a mistake, I was COLD even though it was summer.

The second pack is a 45-55L Arc Teryx No-Zone which I've owned for about 5 years aswell, very light. Great pack, although not nearly as comfortable as the MR with a heavier load. I've also started using it as a day pack, compression sinched down, maybe a extra layer of clothing inside and some food, it's much easier to lash large things to it, eg MSR Lightning 30's, poles, ice ax.

I know it seems like an odd question, but what kind of pack would you recommend if you're required to be in the field for two weeks? My USNSCC program offers advanced trainings like that.

I was thinking along the lines of a CFP90, Blackhawk SOF Ruck Kit, etc.

If anyone has a Tasmanian Tiger pack... Post pics of your setups and your opinion of it!

We've got most of their line at work just this week, and I'm looking for some feedback on them. I considered switching my Kelty for one of these as they look pretty well made, unfortunately Tasmanian offers a 45 and an 85 pack; nothing in between. I need a ~65, so I'll be keeping my Kelty...

Personally I use a climbing pack and the reason I do is for the following reason. When you are pumpingyour arms back and forth Tabbing up hills you encounter nothing behind your elbows.

I find ( My Opinion here) that climbing packs are generally suited to most situations, even carrying over the top of my old PLCE when I served, as the Bergen issued was generally shit and gave horrific welts on my hips.

Climbing sacs are for shit if you run a plate carrier of any kind as they cannot sit close to you.

Generally you can get away with a 50 litre pack with an expandable top set to 60 litres. (Did this in the Brecons in Wales in 04)

Good luck.

Tip: Put fleece or felt on the hip belt where it hits your hips. This will save you a fuck load of grief when using the pack for extended periods of time

Pete.

I thought I would post up my packs since there hasn't been a new post in a while. Sorry for some of the images quality, my lighting wouldn't quite agree.

Kelty Redwing 44. It has been by hiking pack and it can just barely fit all of my stuff inside. A slightly bigger pack would be nice but I can't complain, so far its held up great.

Tasmanian Tiger Essential Pack. Haven't got a ton of use out of it yet but the quality seems to be that of some of my US and Canadian made gear, and for $50 it's hard to beat. It holds 6 liters and fits my source hydration bladder great with room to spare for extra gear.

I will have to update this post when I get more use out of it but on all of my Tasmanian Tiger gear the quality is top notch. Good, solid stitching on all of the places that count and close to perfect finish all around. I was amazingly surprised at the quality for the price.

What packs can be attached on a CIRAS? Through MOLLE webbing, of course.

Eagle modular assault pack. It molles onto back, but is attached to the molle by Velcro, so you can probably pull it off yourself. I have short arms so I never really tried when I had that combo, lol.

This is the actual bag that accompanied me to the Ghan, a SORD Day Pack.

Back then it held everything but the kitchen sink; ECM, batteries for that bloody thing, 2 spare mags, extra bags of ammo/link, a Patrol Medic kit as I was also the PM (Combat First Aider was the Aussie term), food, water, cam netting, if you can think of it, somehow it was in there!

I bought this bag from SORD Australia, there is http://www.sordusa.com/ now, 1 of me mates discharged and joined the company and actually made a package based on my setup!

It's been through the wringer, blown up a few times and is still in 1 piece. I absolutely love it!

Slight necro thread - but unsure whether I should actually open a separate thread or not.

I am looking for a decent 60-70L pack. In the past, I've always managed with my Camelbak Tri-zip 35L pack on "dry" 24 hr games (which is enough to carry NODS and night-fighting tools, ammo, food, spare commo, batteries and some tools) but I have noticed that if I need to prepare for wet/cold weather I require at least another 20-30L for Goretex softshell top and bottom, fleece, underlayer, spare socks etc.

Have been eyeing something like the Pantac Forward Deployment pack (~60L), but anyone with experience with a better pack?

Right to left. USMC Propper/Arcteryx Assault Pack, Camelbak Mule and the Tasmanian Tiger Essentials Pack.

So I have had the TT Essentials Pack for about a year and its awesome. For $50 the value and quality is outstanding.

Got bored a few nights ago and decided to set up a shoot with my camera to f*** around. So I took some pictures of my new Eberstock lodrag pack. Going to use it to carry around my VFC M40a5 gas on the field next season for my USMC scout loadout build I have been working on.

The hazard 4 jelly roll pouch on the side fits a tank of propane perfectly. Most likely wont be there during game play when season time comes though.

Think I'll order an MR ASAP bag as a new day hiking bag. Even with the dollar down its still much cheaper to order from the states than Rampart by the looks of it.

darkshift May 31st, 2016 12:27

I had the same thought Wilkie. I'm actually heading down to the states in June for a while so I'm in the process of finding out if MR will ship an ASAP to my hotel. I'm really hoping they will, otherwise I'll have to pay up the ass to get it shipped into Canada (plus duties).

Wilkie, were you thinking of getting the MC, CB, or foliage colour? I noticed they don't produce a black one anymore.

Wilkie May 31st, 2016 12:50

I'm quite torn on colour, but the CB is likely the route I will go. Multicam is an attractive option, but I'd like to potentially stand out less in a crowd if I happen to be using the pack amongst people or on planes. FG is nice as well though

You have to use their Canadian Supplier - Rampart International.

Their prices aren't the best in the world, but the supply for the new civilian / hiking / urban packs is actually lower than US Pricing, so if you can live without molle but want in on the Mystery Meme, Rampart has ya.

They have some packs still on clearance so you can get a few things at really low prices, if you aren't too picky about what exactly you end up with.

Wilkie June 3rd, 2016 21:08

I think I'll have to send it to a US address. Unfortunately Rampart only has the single size and pattern
