Callsign?

Here's probably a really stupid question, but I've been stuck on this for a while now.

How does one go about getting a callsign?

Tell me how you chose yours, or how you got yours.

Cobrajr122 July 19th, 2013 16:53

You seem to have already gotten one, 'JDoorn'

Pretty much everyone just uses their forum name or a variation of it.
Some just use their real name.

If your on a team that is a little more serious about VP on the radio, you will likely be assigned a number or a simple letter/number combination.

JDoorn July 19th, 2013 17:04

ooh I can't wait for my wolf hunt.

When I signed up on ASC I wasn't really thinking about a callsign.

Drake July 19th, 2013 17:09

What do people call you on the radio?

I can assign you a callsign. It'll be your Official ASC Callsign. But you might not like it.

For $20 I can assign you one that won't garner as much ridicule :P

JDoorn July 19th, 2013 17:16

I have yet to aquire a radio...
I think I'll wait on the official asc callsign. thanks though

Money's tight what can he get for 50 cents?

R.I.T.Z July 19th, 2013 17:25

Crackers, or more commonly Ritz.

Usually just your nickname/ASC username is used.

Unless you're playing with Drake, or Bean or one of the other mods/admins, then it gets "interesting"

That.

JDoorn July 19th, 2013 17:53

Lol.
Good stuff

Rusty Lugnuts July 19th, 2013 18:09

lmao

Rusty Lugnuts July 19th, 2013 18:12

Where do i send the 50 cents?

Drake July 19th, 2013 18:17

Use coupon code Callsign50off for 50ยข off your purchase.

Its a pretty cheap quality callsign for that price (you get what you pay for); it'll probably wear off in 24 hrs.

lucky, i had to hunt a cougar...

Barrie is ideal for that young cub which has yet to find themselves in life ;) The sea of jailbait is quite high, atleast at Queens.

GBBR July 20th, 2013 13:25

hey its in a bar its legal!

Hectic July 20th, 2013 14:26

Well this went a lil off topic lol.
JDoorn, how did you come up with that name to begin with? Is it meaningfull to you in some way? Seems like a good enough callsign to me.
Maybe after playing a while someone who knows you may come up with something that sticks with you or suits you better and you may change it to that but till then use what ya got. Pehaps JD on comms to keep it short?
Im often called Hec to shorten it up.

Armyissue July 20th, 2013 14:50

Oh yes the point of this thread goes back wayyyy back.....

ThunderCactus July 20th, 2013 15:13

K, I'm gonna start calling you JDam lol

DeathSniper July 20th, 2013 15:31

Roll 1D21 to determine name length.
Roll previous # x D26 to determine letters you have to use.
Assemble name.
Done.

Wrath144 July 20th, 2013 17:09

Where did you get that from? Or were you referring to someone else?

McFearsom July 25th, 2013 13:40

Mine was smokey since i'm learning to be a firefighter, but now its Big MAC. I'm thinking thats because I organize our group and we're called MAC and i doubt its a mcdonalds reference since i never eat there. Dont know entirely i just know i should answer to it.

And call signs are only good if they are used 100% of the time on the field and people should have it engraved in their mind to answer to their call sign.

K3vX July 25th, 2013 14:12

*I* need a new callsign, for reasons I don't even need to explain.

I mean, beside the stupid leet name, how can one pronounce it on the field?

Edit: Sadly, everyone I know on the internets knows me by this nickname...

Jimski July 25th, 2013 14:22

I wanted to be Stormbringer_Knight_Of_The_Black_Plague but it's not tactical for communications

People with odd to pronounce call signs get called by their first name. There are some that get called something and it just sticks like TBG. lol

Or wait until you do something stupid on the field and be assigned a new name like Heatstroke, princess, etc...

I'd just call you "K-3" :P

Reaver_RRTS August 14th, 2013 20:05

Often times it's also simply self-chosen. What YOU think you'd like to be called. On my team, we all chose our own "Handle ID's"...
'Reaver' (obviously me lol)
'DarkBlade'
'Raven'
'Flow'
'Solitaire'

Yeah. Little history lesson about some of us- I was out at a field chatting to some other people and my teammate was calling me. Never heard him calling my real name, which he said several times, including outright yelling. As soon as I heard "reaver" I looked over lmao. "DarkBlade" is a big, burly fella who likes to rock it assault style. 'Raven' is our newbie, a flighty, scrawny bugger who's more of an annoyance to the enemy than a threat. (I named him lmao) 'Flow' is our speedy, CQC guy. He's fast, light on his feet and by god runs like a damn gazelle. As for 'Solitaire'..... He's LITERALLY our Juggernaut. He uses a support weapon to pin you down and flanks you. He's a monster sometimes, at least in engagements with few targets. He's far more reserved when there's many XD

Long story short, it's really what YOU like.

Danke August 14th, 2013 20:26

Carlos Spicyweiner here; go ahead.

If there's grass on the field, play ball. (too far?)

If there's no grass on the field, play in the mud!

Bam! tactical!

L473ncy August 15th, 2013 13:30

I wanted to be "xXTier 1 NavySEAL Delta Ranger Ghost 1337 Commando #YOLO#SWAG#420Xx".... that's definitely not a good callsign for tactical comms and plus I'm not 12 or play Xbox.

R.I.T.Z August 15th, 2013 17:02

Everytime I glance at his name I see JaDoon
and I imagine comms going something like this...

Your talent never ceases to amaze me RITZ. We had a new guy come out and shoot a couple of weeks back. He got totaly lost and wondered way off the reservation and ended up having to hid his weapon and flag down a ride. He end up with the handle "Darwin" after the Darwin awards.Sometimes it is as simple as some asshat thing you do that folks will remember you for.

wait... where at stayner? or the other place?

buellxbk August 16th, 2013 07:09

At Stayner. Not sure how he managed it, boundries are marked. Made for a good laugh anyway and sort of helped out as his name is Kevin aswell, so it gave him a call sign and now we won't get names mixed up.
