Is hero outdoors legit?
Is hero outdoors (http://herooutdoors.com/) a reliable and real retailer? I find it suspicious that they have such a wide selection, and they do not seem to say whether an item is in stock or not.
|
Yes, yes they are.
They've been around for a long, long, time. |

Best to listen to Jcadger and call them to call to confirm, you can ask your questions, etc, regarding certain products you may be curious about. |
Hero outdoor used to be hero army surplus. They have been a brick and mortar store since the dawn of Oshawa. Tons of stuff. If you have the chance, go to the store and have a look. You never know what kind of crazy shit you will find there.
|
They were nice enough to call me when an item I ordered was out of stock.
|
Go in and make sure you talk to graham, NO ONE, can help you like he can. He sold me my first gun.
|
Yes Hero Outdoors is legit and they have a large location PACKED full of stuff, they are also a prominent BB Bastard rep with a full stock of many weights and types on hand including FRAG!
They have a ton of Condor in store as well as many tactical accessories, gear, and guns as well. Graham (Viperfish) is the man to contact or go see in store, he will help you out with whatever you need! |
legit. ordered stuff from their site a dozen times :)
|
Heros is a local store for me, if it's on the site doesn't mean they have it in store but they get it in with in a day or two if you order. If you can go in they have a LOT is weird stuff in stock that isn't always on their site, Viperfish is almost always there and is great help and a wealth of knowledge.
|
Hero's is my go to store, it's a bonus that they are within walking distance of my house. They have tons of stuff to look at, just stay away from Graham he loves emptying your wallet lol.

Great store though! |
I've ordered from them before. They'll usually call you if there's a problem. I'm still waiting for a reply on price matching though.
EDIT: And they have replied! But yeah, they are fantastic to deal with. |
Is hero outdoors legit?
I've been a customer of Hero's, in one aspect or another for almost twenty years, including buying a pretty darned good CAF flight helmet and O2 mask for $300 or so. I remember when they were called Rama Army Surplus.
My only qualm with them has been price, which has been reasonable; it's just that I'm dirt-poor, lol. They are truly legit and the quality of their stock can't be disputed, and is warranteed. They've been very fair to me over the years, and they are flexible and responsible if the customer takes issue. Today I was there, buying a can of green gas and asking about a Tactical A1 XM203S they have in their site, but not in stock. Being poor, it was a great buy, but not in stock. They said they'd get it as I ordered. I didn't order it, but fully trust they will get it in at the price they state if I change my mind. Just don't mention "Iceman"; I bug Jeff too much, lol. |
Great store, merchandise and customer service. Talk with Graham aka Viperfish and he will set you up with whatever you need. He is a very active member of the community and definitely knows his stuff. If you ever have a chance to visit the store, I would highly suggest it, fantastic for all kinds of outdoor activities.
|
Not a bad place for gear, I have bought gear from them in the past however Personally I would not buy guns or internals from there but for gear can't go wrong.

Thank You Hero Surplus for Sponsoring NIGHTFALL |
I've always had an excellent experience when dealing with Hero and their store even has a lot of neat one off items that are not on the website as well. If what you order is out of stock, they'll work with you to eitehr get it or just pull it off your order list. Frankly it's the perfect place for a novice airsofter to visit, not only are there weapons (which are priced as the same as the competition or better & they price match) there's a whole assortment of decent quality gear available as well.
Never had an issue myself, as Wardlord asked I think _Whiskey_ should qualify his statement, seems odd considering Hero has the same stuff that everyone else carries pretty much at the same prices. Any questions, just call it's toll free after all. |
No, Hero Outdoor is not legit, it's the worst place ever. We just like to throw our money at the worst possible option :P (Joking)
Real Answer: Yeah, it's a pretty good place, lots of stuff to be found there, prices are what you'd expect for a surplus store. Staff are decent. Call them or take a trip to the store and check it out, see what you think for yourself. |
walked in to buy a sling, bbs and an MRE
walked out with a few patches, sling, bbs and a shotgun... |
Just don't trust buying guns from there. A friend of mine got screwed awhile back.
|
I have bought 5 GBBR's and 3 GBBP's from them so far and never had a problem, other then the hole in my wallet. I always go in there for something small but I almost always seem to walk out with a gun lol.
|
NEVER GO THERE YOU WILL LEAVE BROKE. Lol that place is like a candy store no lie. Its an excellent store to go and find gear or guns and most parts you need. Graham is a great guy with an excellent standing in the community. It's like a 15 minute drive and every visit I leave with more than I expected. It's like a fat chick at a buffet, you need WILLPOWER.
|
Took a road trip to look at airsoft stores in Toronto over Christmas shutdown and went to Hero Outdoors on a whim. My brother saw the website and thought it may have some decent stuff to see. Well holy shit if there wasnt a huge selection of stuff. Bdu's to internals to the Strike Industrys forward grip I have never seen at a canadian retailer or website. Staff were friendly and helpful. Its 2 hours away but I'ld go again, just with more money next time.

Never been to Hero, but Graham (fish), dude who deals with the airsoft stuff, is legit. Any questions you have, he's got a good base of knowledge. Nice guy, too.
|
Only prob I ever had with Hero's was when I took in my MP7 AEG for repairs and it didn't get done. I'm sure it had to do with a staff change, and they got it back to me unchanged and without any charges. They're very fair.
Like I said, that out of twenty-plus years their customer. |
Bought stuff from them last year. Item wouldn't make it out in time, employee also an airsoft we brought it for me. Amazing service and a huge selection of items. Actually have $200 worth of gear in the cart waiting for payday to come around lol.
|
Quote:
Not only are they a huge pillar in the airsoft community, they are a great supporter of local events like Nighfall! Thanks to Hero Outdoors and Graham they donated a whole whack of prizes for Nightfall 2 for people to enjoy. Force Recon is very glad to have them back this year as a sponsor as well! |
Hero Outdoor is good stuff! All kinds of cool items available in the store.
Make sure to pay them a visit if you're ever in the Oshawa area. |
They have really made a huge commitment to the Airsoft community over the last year. They are just finishing a reno and have gone from approximately 2 display cases to 12 if I remember correctly. So much candy it's unreal. Add to that the price matching and the place will drain your wallet faster than 2 ex-wives.

Heros
Wicked store lots of inventory ,great selection and awesome service as stated buy others the place will empty your wallet .Words of wisdom leave your credit cards home lol . But honestly my son and myself went down on Sat for a few needed supplies and ended up leaving with a pair of Gbb s and about a grand lighter. My wife informed the pair of us that Heros is off limits with out an escort :( from now on . Also Shops been there along time i bought a lot of paintball gear there almost 20 years ago and never had a bad experience
The only thing holding ya back is Fear and common Sense |
Yeah, they're great. I bought a charger and lipo off of them and I got a personal phone call with a nice little chat about the TM build I'm working on at the moment... plus got to cause a little jealousy with my 45 minute winter season out here.
All in all they're straight up legit and awesome. :D |
Our group has bought cam nets from them for our army trucks . They seem to be the only surplus store in Ontario with NOS cam nets !
|
Hero Outdoors is probably the most legit retailer. Excellent +++ customer service. You're absolutely right that their website does not list whether an item is in stock or not, but don't be afraid to purchase anything off their website. I go to the store 1-2 x bi-weekly and believe me they almost always have what you need. They have a few storage warehouses in the GTA as well whether they store their stock so if they do not have it at their store, they can get it from their storage warehouse or will order it in for you as soon as possible with no added cost to you. They do not fool around. They do not try to cheat you in any way. Their products are legit. No foul play. They do not believe in selling cheap Chinese replicas. Their products are either original or they do not carry it. My personal recommendation would be to go check out the store in person. You will never purchase from any other retailer again. I'm treated like family. Make sure to meet Graham, Keith, Jeff, and Jeremy. Graham and Jeremy will spend hours helping you make a better choice. They will help you with anything! They are extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, hilarious and extremely friendly. Just go there and say "Sunny" sent you!
|
Last year I was looking for a particular piece of kit for Op SF in GA. I couldn't find it anywhere in or out of Canada. I even called the manufacturer and they didn't have it. Hero had it and shipped it within a day or two. I highly recommend them!
|
I'd like to say that these guys are awesome! They where able to order in a VFC M16A3 for me at A awesome price, and the customer service was top notch, I highy recommed this guys for anything.
|
Their online stock is not always up to date, but they will call you and find a way to make it right, I've made 5 orders from them so far, two times they were out of what I wanted but offered me an alternative that was better for the same price or cheaper in one case. Got a HSGI chest rig from them at a crazy deal and love it. Friendly staff, and extremely fair. I'd recommend them as one of the top 5 airsoft retailers in Canada.
|
I've placed a couple of orders from them in the past few months, and every single time has been a fantastic experience. The shipping time is incredible (ordered a bunch of stuff at 2 am Sunday morning after too many beers, got the Canada Post tracking number by 11 am on Monday, and arrived Tuesday at 11 am!!). After 2 online orders, I actually decided to drive 2 hours to the store to check it out. Very friendly and knowledgeable guys. (I was looking for some mags, and they didn't have any in stock. I bought a bunch of other stuff, and left. As I was pulling out of the lot, one of the guys chased my car down with a box in his hand --he had gone and found some more for me!).
10/10, will continue to shop there often. |
Just placed an online order last night with them for two Tenergy 11.1v Lipo.
Hope they have it in stock D: |
My only complaint would be a visit I made to the store last year when I was picking up some stuff for paintball. When asked what it was for the guy proceeded to tell me that "Paintball is for gays".
Seriously, who in their right mind thinks that is an ok thing to say to a customer?! |

I am new to airguns, and airsoft guns...but I have spent an obscene amount of money at HERO in the last several months! Started by buying a couple of replica steel BB pistols, then morphed into the airsoft (way more choices). I admit my addiction...and embrace it! And the gang at Hero make that Sssoooooo easy! And yes, I've had a couple of "issues", but they have always looked after these quickly and professionally.
I am fortunate in that my job requires a lot of travel...much of it in the east GTA...so I am able to visit regularly. On occasion, I realise that for some strange reason I seem to have money in my bank account. Keith and Graham always seem to have a solution to this unfortunate situation!! |
Ordered a lanyard and a kill rag. Took a month to receive with basically no explanation why. I was hoping for at least a free patch or some kinda extra swag for waiting a month for some shit that I could basically buy anywhere else, but nothin'. I prrrrobably won't be placing online orders from them again after that, or I'll be calling ahead to check that it's in stock in the store. The brick and mortar is great, but online is kinda ehhhhhh.
EDIT: Oh, and after all that I ordered the tan Elite Force kill rag and they sent the black one. So yeah, not super impressed. |
Paid a visit to the store .. loads of stuff. My only complaint is that they are on the pricier side. Have never ordered anything online yet so can't comment on delivery time and service.

Fun to check out the store, but not for purhase. |
I was at Heros a few weeks picking up a mag. It took them 2 weeks to get it because it has to be shipped from their warehouse in the US. I dont recommend you to buy online, but buy what they have in stock in their store. They have lots of stuff in store, so that's worth checking.
I didnt want to wait anymore so I drove to Ajax to pick it up when it finally arrived |
they are very legit especially when it comes to gear
|
I have never had an average experience with Hero. It is either outstanding of abysmal. You never really know what is or isn’t in stock, but once they have your money, well good luck. I suspect they dropship from Evike, but I’m not certain. I live too far from them for in store pick up, which is unfortunate because they consistently fuck up online orders.
|
Quote:
|
yea I also noticed that they have a lot of things you can find from Evike. sometimes the reps will attempt to pitch overpriced products like you're at a car dealership.
and no military/LE discount wtf? I find that fundamentally flawed because of the nature of the store. |

yea so, just slightly under 3 months later, terrible experience. i had to constantly call for updates as they refused to tell me anything. even their online system for when order are made is really bad.
ordered a few glock parts and an outer barrel, was told everything was in stock when i called, made the order.. 2 weeks go by, nothing, call them, nothing is in stock, have to order. takes weeks, 2 parts up me finally. the last 2 parts are still "delayed from their so called supplier" i call 1 week later, some chick there tells me its all here and will be shipping. package shows up 1 week later, only 1 part is in there and it REAKS of coming from evike!! ( i dont like this as if that was is this case i could have bought it myself...) the last part i was told was in stock, but they dont know, guy calls me back couple hours later, their " supplier" is out of stock, ironically i checked evikes website ( where they had the part i needed) suddenly this part is gone from evikes webstore after this hero outdoors phone call. given, hero refunded me right away, but the whole process for 200$ was a total joke! ( ironically enough, for my benefit, i called evike and asked about the part that suddenly disappeared from their webstore, the CS rep i talked to said they just took it off due to stock number problem, i asked why it was up so long for them to suddenly take it down, he didnt know but i asked him to check, said someone called in asking about it a couple hours before i did.... coincidence....?) im sure they are great in store and staff seem friendly enough.... but there are way better organized options for airsoft stuff. |
Yup they are legit. Got some stuff and have no complains so far.
|
Figured I'd chime in, placed an order and took a while to ship, but that's because they had the red dot sight I ordered in some sort of warehouse, it arrived pretty quickly after that though and I can't complain.
Just fired off an email, hopefully they can help me find a kill flash that will fit, and a cheaper alternative to the angry gun 7.62 suppressor. Previous emails with them were a good experience. The price on the red dot was a good 25 bucks cheaper than amazon too. |
I’m always there. If they don’t have it in store they can get it. I work with them directly sometimes to get certain things.
I’ve never had a problem. |
My first and only purchase from Hero was a WE M&P pistol. Got it in the mail and it would fire one bb and discharge all the gas. Made sure it wasnt a mag issue too. Called them and they pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and recommended me some techs in the area. So yea got this gun laying around at home never played with it once since the tech said it wouldnt be worth fixing might aswell buy a new pistol. Very disappointed with their 'not our problem anymore' approach. Havent bought from them a second time.

Hero outdoors
Just thought I'd share my recent experience with Hero Outdoors. Ordered a plate carrier, Hydration pack, and a condor medical pouch. I had seen the part of the website where they say it can take up to 10 days to ship items. After a few days I sent a email inquiring when the items would ship. Email was ignored, another email, a facebook message, and finally a 3rd email before I received a canned response.
"Good afternoon, your order has been processed but please note that as stated on our shipping page, Hero does allow a time period of up to 10 business days to process and ship an order depending on the queue of orders at the time and to arrange transfers from our different warehouses All orders with any or all airsoft parts or guns are subject to longer delays ( up to 20 business day) due to the CBSA mandatory customs border inspections for any airsoft related items. . A tracking # will assigned to you from Canada Post via email. We appreciate your patience. Thanks, Hero Outdoors" So basically we have your money, and we will ship your stuff when we get around to it. At this point I responded and asked them to cancel my order and refund my money, I had a event coming up and couldn't wait a undetermined time for the items. I then received a email stating that my items were stuck at CBSA with the rest of a shipment from their U.S. "warehouse" being held for inspection, and that Hero outdoors had spent days and days on the phone with multiple departments of the CBSA attempting to get the shipment released and mine would ship the second they got it. Sounds like a great excuse except for 2 problems, Their site specifically states I should order from them to avoid tie-ups at the border, and I use to work in the compliance department of a major trucking company and know exactly what happens when a shipment is held for inspection. It sits in a bonded warehouse for a few days and then if you haven't broken any laws it gets released, you don't spend days on the phone. I once again requested my order be cancelled and my money refunded at which point they have stopped responding to my emails. TL;DR Terrible customer service, faster to order from the states or china UPDATE 06/06/18 A week after they claim to have shipped my package Canada Post still has no record of ever receiving the item. Hero Outdoors now claims that Canada Post has lost the package and it's not their problem. |
The worst possible service
Have made several orders, each time they ship way later than even they indicate in their policy.
No correspondence sent as to why there is a delay, they don't care. Look elsewhere if you can. |
I think I left a review when they first opened. I ordered a pistol and got it within a few days and I was happy with the experience.
However, each time I’ve ordered from them since, I’ve had a worse and worse experience. They’ll list things as in stock but it apparently takes them weeks to ship things out cause they have to “coordinate” with their other warehouses to send the items out? Lolwut. I’ve had items from China and Japan arrive faster. I’d understand if what I ordered was on backorder and it take more time, but don’t make your customer wait weeks for items that are supposed to be in stock. I will say that all my orders do eventually arrive and items are as advertised. But after my last experience, I’m not sure I will order from them again. |
My personal experience with Hero was very good last summer and before that, since this past fall they seem to have really dropped off not only with stock but especially with shipping times, things are moving incredibly slow and at the moment I wouldn't recommend buying from them for this reason, especially airsoft stuff. Their customer service is usually pretty good but I'm not surprised to hear of people having issues either, I've heard it from multiple people in person as well.
|
Well, I was little skeptical about their online selection for GBBs so I went to their store the other day to check it out.
And the answer is no, most of the GBBRs are not in stock, for example the VFC or WE Tech SCAR-H GBBRs. You'll have to place a "special" order for them to import for you and it may take several weeks. |
Online store: Nice website and all, but that is where it ends. First order was, slow, but not painfully. Second order for some 40mm pouches took forever. I basically gave up and they magically showed up a two months later.
Retail Store: This I liked. Wide selection of pouches, vests, uniforms, etc. Their selection of AEGs and GBBs are somewhat limited but functional. Their internal AEG parts section did impress me with as I was able to find several items that I couldn't find at dedicated airsoft retailers. End result: Online bad, retail good. |
I found they ship at about half the speed of smell..
The other issue I just discovered on a google search was that they were listing the same gun for $230 more than other stores in the area.... Unless I'm missing something here..... Very sketchy IMO.... Hero selling this CM16-SRL for $554.99 https://www.herooutdoors.com/g-g-com...9-keymod-rail/ Toronto Airsoft for $324.95 https://www.torontoairsoft.com/GG-CC...CK_p_4616.html Camouflage.ca for $324.99 https://www.camouflage.ca/g-g-combat...soft-rifle-aeg |
Me and a team mate tried to order stuff from hero outdoors in the last year; Half the stuff is never in stock and they dont call you anymore, you have to call them when you notice the package is not shipping.
Delay to ship is crazy long sometimes and the customer service is meh. Don't bother sending emails, Call them or nothing will be done if you have a problem. Also most of their stuff is crazy overpriced, Look around for your items Before ordering there, we've had instances where it was cheaper (including shipping and customs fees) than ordering on hero. Also Faster through evike. My friend still tries sometimes because this was a good site back then. But now its just not worth it most of the time. |
another bad one...
Ordered 4 GHK Co2 mags for a viper (over $400 for 4 mags). 4 days with no updates on the shipping called them and they told me it would take several weeks to fulfill the order because they are in backorder at the manufacturer (they were supposed to be in stock) no one updated, if I dont call I can wait for several weeks with no updates. So no updates on their end, you have to email them to cancel the orders (they wont do it thru phone). They have a shit load of cool stuff, but in my opinion a shitty service. First and last order. I HATE this kind of companies, If I wanted to order from Asia I would do it myself, don't need a middle man. Ordered in Canada to support local and to get my stuff faster. (side note / Edit) just ordered from Redwolf, same items and saved 150 bucks. |
The main reason for their shipment delay is they have to get it from their partner in US. Items in stock reflects they are available in US both not in store. They will ship it from US after receiving order. This explains why they have seriously delay.
So the best way if you don't live too far, go to their store and buy it. Otherwise, don' t even think about it. |
Quote:
For the most part I agree, it's actually cheaper AFTER shipping to order directly from the US but that is only up until you need things that you're not comfortable importing yourself. |
Quote:
I can make sure it works properly or meet my requirements before I buy. |
F&^K Hero
Worst company I've ever used. Sad that they are in Canada. They buy their one offs from Evike and you end up waiting for 6 weeks for something you could have got from Evike in 10 days or trigger Airsoft in 7 days.
I would rather stick needles in my eyes than ever deal with them again... |
I had a positive experience from Hero Outdoors. But I do see a lot of complaints and bad reviews happening specifically from their On Stock items on their Online store.
I believe the best way to alleviate that is just being more transparent like how Best Buy currently does it in which they actually list whether the product is either: In Stock, In Store or Purchasing from Vendor. But since they do not have that feature on the website as of yet, then your best course of action is CALL OR EMAIL THE STORE. I call their store to ask and get a quick answer to know if they need to order it in. After I got into an issue with my online order they ended up fixing it. Here was how it went: I received superb customer service from the In-store and Online Order staff! In-store Staff - they were very helpful and told me about the sales items I would be interested as oppose to my first choice items. The items they suggested ended up being better than the initial items I thought I would buy. They also spent 30 minutes with me, testing different Airsoft Grenade Launchers. Online Order Staff - I had an issue with my order but after a quick chat with their rep and the manager they were able to resolve it within an hour. Usually it takes about 24-48 hours to get a response to an issue from other online retailers. Great customer service and very understanding. |
Quote:
IN STOCK means you have an item in your inventory, ready for immediate purchase, not in some far-flung warehouse with a multi-week delay for shipping. Great product once it was finally received, but I will hesitate to buy from them again. |
Honestly after the experience I learned my lesson, order, but call them to consult about stock right after.
|
Quote:
I think the most helpful thing they can have is a "In Stock" or "Special Order" icon in the product description. That would save them time from dealing with confused customers and the transparency should lower the amount of negative feedback. |
Figured I'd res this thread to add another post about Hero Outdoors. Just be aware they drop ship a LOT of their products.Ordered a product last year that took forever for it to ship, the only explanation was that it was in their "Over stock warehouse". When it finally arrived I realized it was drop shipped from overseas. Somehow I forgot this and placed another order with them this year. Well over the "10 business days". Once again got the "it's in our overstock warehouse" canned response. Replied to their email asking for a refund, they read it and ignored it. Started up a resolution through Paypal and once again asked for a refund. They ignored that request and gave the same canned response of it taking "10 business days" (it's been over that 10 business days) because it was in their "overstock warehouse". I asked for a refund a third time (even though they charge a 20% restocking fee on cancelled orders) and they ignore that one so I escalated it to Paypal for them to help resolve this.
|
I placed one order with Hero and NEVER again. I've been ordering online for over a decade now. Hero has, by far, the WORST customer service I've ever come across.
It took nearly three weeks to get a partial delivery of my order. In that partial delivery, they shipped the wrong shirt. Fine, people make mistakes. But when I tried to contact them, they didn't respond to my emails (sent three over a two week period), email is their preferred method of communication as per their website. So, I then decided to call them, I called twice a day (morning and afternoon) and finally got a hold of them on the third day of trying. When I got a hold of them, they were horribly uncooperative and disorganized. I told them they had sent me the wrong shirt and offered to send a picture of what they had sent. In a previous email sent to them, I provided the web address of the shirt they sent, and the address of the shirt I actually ordered. They sent a musty smelling U.S. army surplus shirt, listed for $4 on their site. They told me I could keep it, as if they were doing me a favor - gee thaaaanks. I suggested to them that they could send the correct shirt with the remainder of my order, so they could save on shipping costs. They told me they couldn't do that because they had already sent the remainder of my order (which I found out was a lie, the remainder of my order wouldn't arrive for another two-plus months, with the "correct" shirt in it). Then, they told me, in order to get the shirt I actually ordered, I would have to place another order (buy something else and pay for the shipping) just to get the shirt I actually ordered from them. Really Hero... So, shipping (of only part of my order) took three weeks, they shipped the wrong item, they didn't respond to my emails, to fix it the mistake, they had the nerve to tell me I needed to make another order -"Just order something small" - so they could pawn the shipping cost on to me and suck some more money out of me - all to fix THEIR fuck-up. Unbelievable! After much aggravation and protest, they finally agreed to send me the right shirt. You know, the one I ordered and already paid for. Fast-forward two-plus months (give or take a couple of days), a shirt (close enough to what I ordered) finally arrives with some of the other things I had ordered (the stuff they told me they had already sent out). I also got an email saying the rest of my order was "discontinued", they offered store credit of a refund. REFUND! I want nothing to do with you or your store credit. GTFO Hero. edit: waiting on the refund. |
Quote:
And then they take a huge bite of 20% of that for their restocking fee. How do you restock something that was supposedly in stock and still hasn't even left their store? UPDATE: So I had filed a claim with paypal. Once I did that Hero Outdoors is claiming the product is shipped but won't provide me a tracking number. It's just a smoke screen to try and stop Paypal from refunding my money long enough for the drop shipment to arrive. |

Another update, seems like starting a complaint with paypal did the trick. Just got notification from Canada Post that they picked up my parcel and it should be here by the 6th.

HI Guys, new here on the forum. browsing around and saw this topic about Hero outdoors. I ordered a small item (PEQ Box) and its a month already and no update.I just happened to find about the bad reviews after I bought the item. It's only 20 bucks but, I'll be filing complaint with my card so that these guys should learn about customer service.
Lesson learned and will not buy again from these guys. |

I Have ordered many things from Heroes they all arrived... eventually, or if an item was discontinued they did contact me and had it replaced with a different item. I have had issues where they say they let you order an item but it is not something that they have in stock so the order gets delayed. Whenever I have contacted them they have responded fairly quickly. (an instantaneous response is generally not what I would expect from any company but within a reasonable amount of time)
I ordered some stuff just before the lockdown happened and my order took about the same ammout of time it always does (within 1-2 weeks to arrive). There is a couple items I ordered that I want to return/exchange as they are not the size I expected (as is the risk of ordering online) and they have not yet responded which is now entering an unusually long wait time for a response. I will say If you ordered anything since everything went into lockdown and are raging about slow responses I would suggest you expect a longer than normal wait time for anything and everything to happen because... well... lockdown... On a side note its good to see Jeroon still lurking. |
Has anyone physically been there recently? They are impossible to reach via phone or email, or facebook. Usually they are pretty good, and they went above and beyond once and saved my ass for a big airsoft event that would have been ruined without critical parts.
But I placed an order in the middle or start of may and it's still awaiting fulfilment. Zero updates, and no way to reach them, I'm wondering if they had a shipment seized or something, or what the hell is going on. They are still blasting out emails about new stock and stuff, but what the fuck is going on that their customer service is struggling so much with? I just checked and the gun I want is now sold out everywhere else, so trying to save $40-$50 with hero was a mistake apparently. |
I did not enjoy my experience shopping from them. They answered my first e-mail quickly, and then I ordered 2 products.
One was a rare mount for one of my GBBRs that they stated was in-stock and i got a light to attach to that mount. I got notifcation of shipment a few weeks later (look quite a while). Once it got here, I noticed that the mount I ordered was missing. I tried to phone, e-mail them but I never ever got any answer no matter what I tried. I ended up calling VISA to get it settled, and they informed me that I was already refunded the amount of the mount a while back. I find it very disappointing that Hero Outdoors didn't bother to get in touch with me about it, and failed to respond to me in any capacity after I had made my purchase. I ended up purchasing a light that I had no way to mount to my GBBR. I definitely do not recommend them. |
Has anyone ever used their like 'trade in service' to sell gear? like you send them your stuff and they evaluate it?

Hero outdoors is absolutely legit.

Funny story as I apparently used up all of my luck for this year in this one transaction.
My first purchase ever from Hero Outdoors to pick up an ICS MP5 metal upper as they are the only vendor that I've been able to find this online in Canada. Going with the assumption I will not be seeing anything for 4-5 months if I'm lucky I put the order in Thursday last week. Received it this Tuesday. I'm gobsmacked that they actually had it in stock. Mind you, the outer diameter of the front is bigger than the inner diameter of the metal A4 front end I have and there seems to have been a design change to remove the two mounting screw holes for the MP5 hopup unit inside by ICS. Looks like I can't use it. Go figure. LOL |
It's been almost two years, I'm still waiting on a few hop rubbers that was part of a bigger order. ( I gave up hope long ago)

Yes, I believe Hero Outdoors is legit. I just went there yesterday with the intent on buying some MREs. I was surprised to find they had a few CO2 mags for my CZ p09 which is quite hard to find in Canada at the moment.

Their a drop shipping company. Their main bread and butter is too drop ship.

Bought a boneyard VFC G36 off them. Not sure if boneyard guns come from in-store or Evike?but first pull of the charging handle and something snapped and it wouldn?t fire. Ordered a bunch of Crusader, VF Precision and VFC V2 parts to rebuild. Also ordered new guns and they all eventually showed up.

I ordered an AKM metal receiver and 2 months later they cancelled my order. 2 years later, i forgot I was still looking for a metal receiver and forgot I already tried ordering from them until I saw my order history, I purchased the exact same AKM receiver that was "in stock." I figured id wait it out and see what happened this time, and it showed up 3 months later. It's a real store, not a scam. I mean, if you have low expectations theyre okay
