Potential New Retailer In Belleville Ontario
A friend of mine is huge into Airsoft and may be opening an Airsoft store in Belleville Ontario, and is also looking to get a league or team togeather for the area, just by a showing on the forum how many people would be interested? And how many people are from that area, or how many would be willing to make the journey out for guns / accessories / gear or leagues!?!?
|
I would be interested in gear and guns.
|
*sigh*
please come back when you are more serious about this, or when you have your store running, or website up. You wouldn't believe how many wannabes have come before you (rather, you would, if you searched for it) |
he has me doing a bit of market research for him, its a big jump to start up a business and invest in inventories and gear unless you are completley sure there will be a stable enough market for it.
If i get only 1 reply to this thread then we know that not enough people would be interested, or at least thats my take, i guess the final decision is up to him! |

wow, you get to be the vice president of market research for a new airsoft retailer. This must be very exciting for both of you. What is the significance of the 420 after your call sign? Is that your birthday? I heard some one else was opening an Airsoft armoury too, maybe he can give you some tips.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the helpfull tips! |
What a harsh welcome. This may not be the best category for the topic, but why be so snippy, guys?
I agree though, it seems a little silly he hasn't posted on here himself. Plus, regardless of Belleville suppport, there is definitely a market for this kind of store through online sales and whatnot. It's just a matter of how much capital is required to start it up (which I have no idea of). I'm not sure how helpful anyone will be in that regard, since anyone who would know probably has such a store and would be in competition with you(r friend) or knows someone with one well. But hey, a little competition never hurt anyone. |
Competition is wonderful, but... the problem was pointed out; there are been so many folks saying the same thing in the past that we are jaded?
If he's serious, and does it, clients will come. It's really that simple. |
I think your best bet would be to start in/around Ottawa, because it's the hight of Airsoft activity, but Belleville would be just fine as well.
But you should probably get your friend on here himself to keep everyone updated on the status. Several questions, also; Does he have a premesis ready to build/open the store on? Is he ready to commit 80% of his day working? Is he ready to deal with Custom's and importing firearms? Is he ready to pay to get the gear and things he needs to operate? |
I think i will mention to him the concept of opening an online store, as opposed to a store front, maybe he will take to that, from what i have seen anyway online seems to be the way to go.
Thanks for the feedback! |
Why did you not answer the question? Is he ready to get the proper permits for importation?
|
You know this isn't going anywhere, right? ;)
|
I would assume that if this did in fact take off, your "friend" would not be selling to those under the age of 18 correct?
|
yeah, if the business was started he would obviously have to abide by all rules and regulations, permits and laws...of course. And as for if he is ready for all the permits, property, and all other angles, this was a preliminary step simply to see the number of airsoft enthusiasts who were interested, based on the feedback the decision would be made on weather or not it was worth the risk and investment.
He is familiar with the processes in starting up a business, but needs to do more research on all the laws and regulations of selling airsoft weapons and gear. As of this point i would say as you all have thought, this isnt going anywhere!.... at least until he has done all the work researching it and familiarizing himself with laws and permits, to sell airsoft gear. |
You got it. If your friend is really interested, he can start by doing the research himself, getting the paperwork, and when he has done that effort we in turn will take his business a whole lot more seriously.
Until then, it's just another dream. |
When this starts up, gimme a pm. I'll help the guy and buy an AEG from him to start his biz. I dont mind driving the 2 hours to Belleville.
|
Just remember--the real money is in online retailing.

Ok I want an AEG turbocharger, if you can't find one you fail...No I'm just kidding it'd be nice to have another retailer try not to carry crap that shoots 0.12gram BBs or cheap spring guns.

Belleville Store
I was wondering if anyone knew of a store were guns ammunition and gear can be bought in the area of Quinte.
|
Uses the search button, and for guns, get age verified. Also if you havent read the FAQ's
|
We supply gear and equipment however we do not carry guns or accessories for them.
We are in Brighton, just the other side of Trenton. |
From my understanding, Buying or selling Airsoft Guns is Illegal (Not Parts). Only the possession is legal. Receivers, Grenades, Magazines with fake bullets etc etc are supposed to be illegal which is covered in Canadian Memorandum from Customs.
Im not trying to sound like a law prof (which im definately not) im just trying to help with the knowledge that ive come across (If im wrong, please correct me, cause i have a large interest in this as well.) Basically I had done a bit of research of my own because i was interested in importing my own guns for my team (I had talked to a few brokers and customs officers about this). In order to do this, you must hold a Firearms Aquisition + Business License, which can only be issued by a firearms sales officer. From what i hear, they will only issue these if you have a REALLY good reason. (This will be difficult, since its illegal to sell airsoft guns). My assumption is that ASC Armoury is doing the same thing. Though they somehow managed to get a firearms business licence (Which I would REALLLY like to know how :D) They no longer import Airsoft Guns. They Avoid Receivers and im sure they have a very big difficulty getting mags with fake bullets in. They only sell the parts and accessories (which is not illegal). This is just my understanding of how everything works from talking to different people. I could be entirely wrong, so please correct me if im wrong because this topic interests me greatly. Good luck to you guys, hope this helped :D |
