Tactical Force TF16 vs. Aftermath Kraken AK
ok so heres my situation, im underage to airsoft , i cannot buy a gun online, and I really really need a better gun.Im in toronto and the only place a i kno of is BassPro.At BassPro theres only 2 guns that intrest me the TF16 and the Kraken AK. I've reviewed both of these airsofts and i think that there both pretty good for my limited options.
So... im asking for your opinion, which one is better and why?? Aftermath Kraken: ($129.99 at BassPro) http://www.aftermathairsoft.com/rifl...x?productID=19 Tactical Force TF16: ($119.99 at BassPro) http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/mo...uctDescription Thanks n plz help me decide with my limited options:D |
how old are you exactly?
|
im 16 i mainly use what i have now for backyard battles n target shooting
|
get ready
|
You'll get the standard "wait until you're 18 and get age verified" response here then.
|
great
|
dont play backyard games, you are 16, old enough to play on the field so why not? It's way more fun than backyard buddy fucking.
Anyways, to make the thread useful in one way or another, I'd have to say go with the kraken, just so much more noob friendly. |
thnx for the opinion...more plz lol
|
|
Let it go guys, hes been told and answered, no need to each pitch in your own not funny picture or comment.
|
go with the kraken
|
kraken, why? check out the review section again.
|
well i dunno, i checked out reviews for both guns n there all good things about the two.
|
well from the forum threads here, I've seen people who ARE buying a cheap gun as a project gun, usually go with a kraken, that's enough to sell me if I were looking between the two.
Rex |
kraken, much more potential, metal bodies, wood kits, and lots LOTS of upgrades. Type in kraken in search... tons of threads, and pics of guys custom projects. Theres your answer.
|
He's underage, and playing in a city centre like Toronto.. Why are people helping? Where's Bob?

Can't expect the airsoft sport to continue growing without recruits. you aren't born smart. you learn. Sometimes I just try to imagine, it was me, confused, no knowledge on airsoft, so I ask a forum, only to get MAJORLY flamed most of the time for not being born with the knowledge.
Disclaimer-with the exception of babies that need to be fed and patted on the back. Rex |
Kraken kid, as it's been said, upgradabilily is the selling point, if something should break on it, it will be easier to replace the parts.
|
alright, ive think i made my decision, thanks for helping me out

Get the kraken
more potential behind it |
Get the kraken at least it has a metal barrel in it. My TF-16 is currently in pieces and it shot shit out of the box and semiautomatic fire selector doesn't really work until you move it in between full auto and semi. Good parts gun though now I have a spare gearbox, motor and a new battery for my kraken.
And please no backyard battles kid your making us look bad. If you manage to get an airsoft gun at sixteen just pink in the basement until you are 18 and ready to play in the fields or your parents allow you to play in the fields.Note Airsoft in Canada are more replica firearms than toy guns, DO NOT TAKE THEM OUTSIDE IN PUBLIC VIEW!!!!! Treat them like a real firearm!!!! |
Yeah im kind of wondering the same thing, im tied betwen the two guns. The kraken has more metal parts, and is TM compatable, so finding upgrades and replacement parts will be easier, but out of the box, which one performs better? Not just in FPS, I mean accuracy, durability, RoF, etc, (all with .2g bb's).
Thanks, Jeff |
i have/had both tf16 and kraken.
get the kraken, it is a solid gun and with some minor upgrades it can last quite a wile. |
I have a Kraken as a loaner/backup (my primary being a CA M15A4) and I've fielded it a couple of times just to get a feel for it. It's a decent gun, certainly for its price. It shoots harder out of the box then even the big names like TM or CA. It's reasonably accurate as well, I was only using the iron sights and I was hitting what I was aiming at as often as could be expected. Not particularly creaky even with all the plastic, and metal barrel is a nice addition. It's surpisingly heavy for a mostly plastic gun and fairly well balanced. It's TM compatible even though I haven't done anything to it. I'm a realcap man so I bought a pile of Star realcaps and they fit in the gun just fine.
All in all, it's a solid gun for it's price and a good investment. If I had the choice of a Kraken plus a metal body and woodkit or a JG, I'd probably go with the Kraken, though obviously manufacturers like TM or CA or even G&P are still better. I'm not familar with the TF16 but I'd recomend the Kraken to anyone on a budget or just starting out. Kuro_Neko |
I cant tell you witch is better but heres my opinion on the tf 16. its a good gun. Powerful! But theres a couple of problems. The stock sucks, its plastic and jams alot, and the batery sucks. It doesnt last long at all. But the gun is pretty heavy, powerful metal gears, lasts long.
|
if you check at bass pro they now carry the Broxa Evolution which is aftermaths mp5 clone. It's got a metal gear box and its pretty solid with a lot of room for upgrades, it's basically a clone gun under a different name then we're used to so it will come down to whether you prefer an ak-47 as your starter or an mp5 as your starter
|
The TF16 is a plastic piece of garbage that I bought at basspro as well. Pieces already broke off when I took it out of the box..I quickly returned it to get a kraken which is like night and day compared to the TF16..metal and ABS body, shoots roughly 370fps right out of the box and is TM compatible. So take it from me, don't waste your money on the TF16. But like the other guys said, just plink it in your basement until your 18 and don't bring it outside. Hope this helps.
|
I've personally handled the Kraken AK and was impressed with the value. It might even be something I'll look into getting, myself!
(With a metal body and real wood grips ordered shortly thereafter, of course!) |
thanks for the help in my decision, i went with the kranken btw, but only bad thing i hear about it is the battery n some parts need replacing, anything i can do to make it last long n perform good?
|
kraken
i bought the kraken to learn on in how to maintenance the gun
i brought it to the gun clinic and was able to shim the gearbox and make some upgrades several others had that gun its decent , works and is a great start to the hobby until you can get a kwa or classic army |

Good choice however. I got a Kraken for my friend to use for now as a loaner type of thing except chances are he'll pay me back in full for it :p and it shoots hard, seems durable and is relatively accurate. However, I believe there's a thread on ASC somewhere on upgrades you SHOULD do on a Kraken to make it game worthy. And I happened to have found it. I was told to stay VERY VERY far away from TF16's as I was told they were useless except for maybe even parts if I really needed them although my initial opinion on them was that they weren't bad. |
