Bolt on standard M4 triangle sight?
Hey guys, been searching all over and not having luck but I figured I'd ask here.
Are there any available solid front triangle sights that bolt tight around barrel similar to the VLTOR flip up front sight does? My barrel or my front sight is messed up and won't align using the pins so I'm kinda stuck.. |
Does your setup allow for use of a rail attached fixed triangle sight? Similar to the LMT sight.

Unfortunatley no, I'm running a casv front set.
|
Not aware of any standard style triangle sights that clamp down like the VLTOR. I know there are various other styles of flip up sights, like the PRI that clamp down... but no triangle sights that I know of.

Get a new outer barrel? The front sight and a new outer barrel are pretty much the same price.
|
Yeah Sushi, that's about where I'm at, it's a new barrel but I guess it's a cheapo.. Might just be easier and cheaper to go with the VLTOR flip up..

replace the part thats broken, not the ones around it. just saiyn, thats what i would do. |
Are the slots where the front sight go aligned/leveled to your gun. And is your barrel on straight? cause if it's a one piece outer shouldn't be a problem, but if you guns using the stupid old marui style outer barrel with the grub screws then the barrel itself could be misaligned.
Pictures would help. |
I believe the problem you are having is related to the diameter of the pins that stake the front sight to the outer barrel.
The problem is caused by mixing and matching outer barrels and triangle front sights made in Honk Kong and Taiwan and Japan. Basically the pins are 3mm but depending on where the mfg is located the size can run anywhere from 2.5mm to 3.5mm. When you run into this situation best answer is to make your own pins that fit tight enough to hold the sight tight and then make sure to use the set screw on the bottom for extra tightness. Cheers |
Yeah the barrel is a 1 piece barrel not the Marui style. Looking closely at the barrel, the slots for the pins are not correct. They are off centered by a few degrees. I could file them I suppose but then the pins would likely be too loose.

Get a tap and make some threads in the hole of the triangle sight, 3mm should be a good bet.
then get 4 set screws and use them to lock the sight in place. Worked on my gun, I guess it will on yours too. |
Now that idea sounds like a winner Kos-Mos. Not sure where to find a tap that small in my crap town but I'll have a look.
