Bootie time where up get you footware
Hi all
I bought a crappy pair off Rothco jungle boots for 40 bucks new there not bad but have problem they have factory holes by the in step. Any idea where to find boots without holes ;-) at resonable price? Cheers |
Jungle boots by design and intended use have vent holes on the side to help moisture (sweat) get out and also if you step in a puddle or w/e it will drain.
As for me, I still have my hiking boots that I started with (although beat up from playing, hiking, camping, etc.) but I recently picked up a used pair Magnum Storm II's for cheap and love them. Also I know that Converse is usually associated with skateboarders and the like but the Converse "Tactical" boots are actually really comfy and at a reasonable price too. Personally I like midtop 6" boots instead of 8" boots but it's up to you in the end. The converse boots I know should go around as low as $80 USD for a pair. |
+1 for converse tac boots. I have these http://www.lapolicegear.com/codetabo.html and have had em a year or so. Comfortable & rugged.

$15 legwrap/Puttes
$4 Rubber sole Canvas army shoes. = $19 Jerry rigged boot. Closest thing I've ever had to combat boots since I started airsofting. Might throw in gortex or Neoprene socks to make it more water resistant. |
Click on my site and I have a few reviews on various boots. I currently wear two different Converse boots and a set of Magnum Sidewinders.

I like my Original Swat Classic 9's. got mine from Army Issue a few years ago.
A few guys I play with swear by Merrell's that you can find at MEC. Expect to pay more than $40 for boots that are suppose take you everywhere you want to go! |

$49.95 These are the CDN Army MKIV boots great for playing. http://armyissue.com/catalog/images/OSbootBlk.gif $90.00 These Original SWATs I'm blowing out. Magnums, that are replacing them are not photgraphed yet and the CDN Desert Boots Newest version are not up yet either. |
I got Magnums and Condor Elite boots. I actually gotta say that Condor Elite boots are surprisingly well made. They've worn in well and are around the same condition as my Magnum Stealth boots and have been used/gamed allot more. Comes with a composite toe and (without the YKK Zipper) are waterproof. I wore them at the recent ZWAC game which anyone who went could tell you there was a fair bit of mud and water. I was comfortable all day. The composite toe is light and provides protection like a Steel Toed boot, yet none of the weight. They are a well balanced boot that comes with my recommendation!
Can be found at Hamilton Tactical & HeroArmySurplus(but are a bit more expensive here than other locations). They do retail at a fairly higher price than some boots, but you get allot of nice features with them, as with all boots, I suggest you find different ways to lace/tie them as that can be a big factor in comfort. |
you WANT those holes
If you don't want your feet getting wet, wear goretex socks goretex or otherwise, if you step in a puddle above the boot line the water will get in, and if it's a goretex boot, the water's not going to get out. I gotta get rid of my converse desert boots because they don't have drains, it really sucks hauling around 3lb of water in each boot! My last pair of boots were altama exospeeds, and I'm going back to those. It should be noted that goretex boots are for airforce use, when the most hardcore thing you do in the rain is walk through small puddles on a tarmac =p I used to have rothco boots too, don't know if you've played in water with them yet, but be warned the soles on them slip out from under your foot when wet! Rothco boots are purpose built ankle breakers. |
Thats why on those really rainy days you wear gators, lol.

For $50 bucks the CF boots are great IMHO

I have swats and issued boots. Swats really are like a pair of runners, and there's lots of different types and features. Combine em with a pair of gortex socks on a wet day and you're golden. I've heard a lot of good things about Rocky's, Danner, and Bates though. If you can try different boots on I'd suggest going with whatever feels best.

Mind you, I'm sure if I went for a swim I'd be walking around with some water in my boots, but that would be the least of my worries... |
