so this is my final choice for what arisoft i will use and upgrade completely. just need some opinions.
i will be buying up to 15 mags for whichever gun you suggest. btw i live in canada and i can get both legaly

VFC scar-L or the G&G scar-l.

The recoil one has proprietary mags. Once you run out in a fire fight no one else can help you out.

If you have a hard on for both I would go gas. Just plan to pay a fair bit in the long run.

The TM Scar does use proprietary mags yes, but you may also get an adapter to use regular mags. The downside to the adapter is you lose the bolt catch/release function.
The TM will be infinitely more reliable than the WE.

I can see the reason to want both.
WE: More recoil, More noise, More realistic, messy, gassy, can only be used for 50-80% of the year.
TM: More reliable, guaranteed to come working right, can be used 100% of the year

Honestly the biggest deciding factor is if you plan to play in the cold and if you want to buy 2 guns for it or just the one that can play in all temperatures.

I actually don't mind not being able to use my WE during the cold months. It gives me an excellent chance to gather whatever is needed for next spring, and my wallet actually holds spending cash, haha.

I have been playing for two winters with my WE SCAR... no issue there.
You simply can't burst in auto, but I never do it anyways... and most people learn really fast that 30 rnds. is not much.

The deciding factor is likely availability.
Very difficult to get recoil shock TMs.
i swear by them but am one of the few in Canada that have a couple.
If you do go the TM route, eagle6.co.uk is the place for upgraded batteries and springs.
But expect to sink alot of money into it (though for most, it's great to go out of the box).

I would highly advise against buying a WE GBBR, the stock internals are absolute crap, you have to replace literally every part with RA-Tech steel upgrades to ensure that it stays in working order, not only that, but the nozzles like to snap in half a lot, the bolt catch mechanism is terrible, and the number of aftermarket parts available for it is just pitiful, for the amount of money you would put into it to ensure it is in working order just isn't worth it. I personally owned two WE GBBRs (open and closed bolt) and had nothing but problems, and I have seen countless friends WE's break continually. I'm sure tons of people will stand by their WE's but I have never witnessed a larger margin of gun failures than with the WE GBBR's. I know you want a scar, but if you want a gas rifle, go for an Inokatsu, Viper, G&P WOC, or some other brand that runs off of the MANGA (WA) gas system, and ProWin mags (which never leak). I have had my G&P WOC for about 8 months now, and haven't had any major failures (no parts breaking).

This sounds exactly like a person who has never owned a WE, yet is bias for some reason. I own a scar, and sure, everything breaks once and awhile, and you simply fix what needs to be fixed. GBBRs are costly, but then again, this is airsoft. More $=better. Scars are also pretty cheap, especially for Canada. And about the whole not being able to use it in winter, has anybody heard of Co2 mags or adapters?

I have a bias against them because all I have ever had are constant failures, and that is through both the open and closed bolt M4 and PDW (I even had the gen 3 or 4 OB kit for it), so after spending god knows how much money trying to keep them running, and seeing the same things happen to my friends with theirs, I gave up. So that is the reason I'm bias, if you had something constantly break on you, and saw everyone else's doing the same thing, wouldn't you be a little bit bitter?

nah people here seem to be overly fond of the shit WE puts out, I dont quite understand it either, though the base cost is low for a GBBR, people go on about how they are "tough" or "reliable" and those are two things that dont describe a WE GBBR... its probably people that put 200 rounds through the gun at a game once a month and think thats "using" it

I'm at 5K rounds in about four months at the moment, and after swapping out the trigger assembly the only reliability issues I've had have come from me "Tap Rack Banging" moments before I realized I should have done a double feed drill. Otherwise my experience has been flawless (Except for that bolt catch, but that's fixable in about 30 seconds.

Your Mileage will obviously vary though.

TNL's mileage seems negatively impacted as soon as he touches a gun...


And before you spazz out again [TNL], there's a forum full of people saying WE GBBRs work well, and there's you saying they don't. Figure it out.

5000 rounds is what TNL goes through on a slow afternoon.

There are entire forums of people who say WE makes crap GBBRs. THis is simply one forum that really likes them.

I agree with the unverified guy, WE stock internals are shit. They're still fun guns, they just break sooner rather than later. Run them on their shit internals until they break, replace em with steel, and you've got a great rifle.

Millions used to say that cigarettes were good for you, and completely ignored the claims of doctors who said that it wasn't, if history has taught us anything, it's that the masses are not always right, so if you enjoy your WE, that's fine, but I am not going to tell someone that WE's work flawlessly after all of the issues I've seen.
