Airsoft Canada Weathered Gun Thread

Can we have our own weathered gun thread? Any type you want. Only mine are mostly AKs. Let's see some MP40s and STG-44s too.

My techniques mostly involve sandpaper, abrasive pads, and steel wool. Also liquid gun blue. Dark ebony stain for the wood usually gets the job done.

I don't know if it was my PM that influenced this post but AWESOME!!!
I like the fact that there worn with character, as if aged over time and not some hacksaw, dragged from the back of the truck look.
You sir have inspired me!

Nice! Good to have a thread for this...

Heres some work i've done in the past.

TM/ARMY Detonics .45. Still working on the finish. Used some of my darkener to make the barrel end look burnt up.

My old Thompson M1a1. Full metal and wood.

My old WE XM177E2 and Luger, both weathered.

Here are some of my WE luger. First one with a nice clean blued 'steel' look. Got bored with that and decided to make it show its 'age'.

Got more on the way... M14, PPSH41, Nagant Revolver, TT33, etc :).

Shouldn't this go in the media section?

To hell and back!
Cold bluing and lots of abuse afterwards. Need to do "bekalite" paint job on plastic to fix it up a bit.

I saw this thread and immediately thought of you. Always love your work.

Any methods or tips/tricks you guys have, please by all means, post em up!! I love weathered guns, especially the WW2 ones.

666, your MP40, did you do the selector mod to it? I didn't see it there. Looks good btw.

Yup, but it's simple "mechanical" mod. Not electronic switch. I also swapped a bunch of internals and put longer inner barrel with regular hop up rubber/bucking.
I can write up material list/point form guide for cold bluing, but it's a painful and time consuming process which I wouldn't want to repeat any time soon :)

Cool stuff so far. Amazing. Keep it coming. If this goes in the media section, I'm sure it will be moved.

My techniques so far have involved steel wool, abrasive pads, cold blue, ebony wood stain, and black spray paint.

A little bit, yeah. Then I saw other airsoft forums have threads devoted to this very topic.

Looks like bluing is holding pretty good. Pot metal or steel? What kind of bluing did you use?

It's a mix of steel & pot metal. The few steel parts are the top cover, selector lever, trigger guard & outer barrel. The rest is pot metal.
I used Outers gun blue kit (liquid). For the pot metal, after blueing I applied a tiny amount of Mothers metal polish & used very lght pressure to buff. Too much polish &/or too much pressure will remove the blueing completely, but that comes in handy for sharp edges.

Wow some nice "weathering" work.
