Sniper Scopes
 

I'm wondering what everyone is sporting for theirs and possibly where to get the best protection for them, just not sure if i'm searching the right word for it

Anyways prior to getting the TM L96 i ordered a NCstart 3-9x something (returned it) because i hated the fact the knobs was secured under a cap.
That's probably why it's so cheap.

Now i got a VISM P4 EVO series4 2.5-10X 50 and im really loving how much more versatile the range is. This cost me just $170 shipped to the states which i had to smuggle across (im only 30mins from the border). It's cheap but im sure there are better ones out there

Maybe what he meant by it is the daily limit of purchase when crossing the border? If he looked harder and researched harder, some retailers carry vism/nc star products. Oh well...

Aside from everything there being much cheaper w/o the Canadian markup/gouging tax it makes a lot of sense. Technically i didn't smuggle it, custom even asked about it let me go w/o paying duty.

Though it would be a bigger issue if the US side decide to poke at it

Basic Tasco scope. Nothing fancy, zero'd in and works. Plus if someone hits it I am out $50 not $170.

as far as I know there's no such thing as a "sniper scope"

I had a cheap tasco 2-6x30 scope on my VSR
I was always at 3x with the bolt action rifle, my new specterDR is 3.5x which is also okay, anything else is too narrow to see what's going on. You REALLY shouldn't need anything above 4x for airsoft, but that's personal preference.
And I prefer mil-dot reticles since it makes it easy to compensate for windage and elevation.

honeycomb lenses makes good lens protectors, I was lucky enough to have access to polycarbonate sheets and just made my own lens protectors.

I personally switch between an AimPoint and my rifle scope, but since this is a scopes thread, I'll post about the scope.

It's a Bushnell 2-6x28E (I have no idea what the 'E' stands for), halogen-filled, mil-dot reticule, dual-colour illuminated scope.

I personally like it because the 2-6x magnification range gives me a more 'airsoft friendly' combination of zoom; I find I usually leave it on the 2x setting because it offers a perfect blend of FOV and accuracy to use in mid-range environments, which is usually what I play in.

I'll occasionally up the mag to 3 or even 4x, but I rarely venture past that when shooting. Because it is mounted on a standard 'assault' rifle platform and not a DMR or Bolt-Action rifle, I pretty much never use 5x and 6x and those are usually only reserved for IFF or other weird little things I feel like doing with them.

Reticule colours are red and green, which is nice, but I have yet to use those in combat. They only ilum the reticule, which is pretty typical, but still useless in low-light areas. In daytime I find the standard black is perfectly useable.

Windage/Elevation knobs are hidden in metal shrouds on the side (which slightly annoys me, but then again, I just use the Mil-dots to compensate most of the time) and there are three 20mm Picatinny rails integrated into the body of the scope. It adds a finishing touch of functionality and also that 'tactical' look that I liked it for.

I like the low profile and short length of that Bushnell.
Maybe I should add it to my wishlist.

Ha, I had the exact same railed scope on my VSR
The one thing I absolutely hated about it was the mount, it's free on BOTH sides, so if your rail isn't exactly the right size, the scope is loose

Not to be a downer, but good luck. I haven't seen this scope in any stores in Canada since I bought it in China. I think it's a retired model, and Bushnell doesn't have it on their website because of that.
I think they do make a 3-9x54mm version though; it's the exact same as this, just with a larger exit lens (forgot the actual term) and with a higher magnification. It also comes with finger dials for windage and elevation, so it's not stuck under caps. You might want to give that a try.

What do you mean? I tried it on a couple different rails and it tightened quite nicely.

if you look closely at the end, you'll see both those pieces on the sides are actually not part of the scope, first one i had the left side was glued on and eventually got loose, second one i bought came loose.
VSR top rail might be a bit too wide, once I tightened down the scope you had to force a bit but it could move around. If I knocked the rifle anywhere I'd have to twist the scope back over to the right position lol

Huh, that's interesting.

Mine is pretty solid. I'm aware that those are separate pieces, but that's because you can flip the two attachments around and convert it from a 20mm mount to an 11mm mount that you can use on hunting rifles.

I've never had that issue. Might just be differences in the rifles.

Use a kill flash on the $170 scope.
