Looking for my first AEG

VFC seems like the way to go for me

Can anyone speak with experience in using their Scar or M4 variants?

They have a beautiful M4 line up : http://www.gb-tech.com.tw/products.a...M4%20and%20M16

But their Scar-L looks like its in the same league as their M4

Anything gained or lossed from going towards either?


The VFC AEGs do tend to shoot a little hot (pushing 400fps) Is that going to limit me even in out door games? Or is that acceptable?

I bought a used scar-l from the forum and its been more than I could have asked for in my first gun.
I can't speak for the m4 but my scar-l shoots around ~390fps and has extremely tight grouping and after I got her tuned by a gundoc its ROF is insane on a standard battery.
I haven't done anything but put in a new hop rubber and longer tighter barrel and re-wire to deans.
I don't study RS externals but everyone comments on it and wants to hold it
check with your local field about outdoor fps, mine is comfortable in our 430 max limit

That thread aside,
The only thing I can give is my limited experience with my scar-l
Vfc is well worth the money inside and out
The scar-l takes m4 mags huge check mark for myself and squad
The folding stock has no wires when folded but its pretty tight in terms of battery space
Mine came with a cqb and long inner barrel, the outer barrel unscrews and can attach a suppressor/flash hider right to the gas block
the functional bolt catch sounds beastly
Like I stated previously, stock the rof on f/a is great and it shoots like a dream.

Aesthetics wise:
I bought the black model and I prefer it over two tone, lots of metal and it feels sturdy no creaks or wobbles
Simply looking at other brands I prefer the stock and look of vfc, no real reason
I like the iron sights on the scar, the rear sight has a large and small ring as well as fully adjustable(I'm no pro on terminology)

On top of pure performance and looks you cant go wrong with a hardcase included

I own a VFC SCAR and AR variant.

They are both great guns. Their AR variants are top notch, I just don't like that the buffer tube is not mil-spec. The machining on my URX2 rail is flawless, the machining on the upper receiver on my SCAR is also great.

If you intend on customizing your gun, you may not want to get a SCAR. Aftermarket pistol grips require modding to function in the gun. There is also no aftermarket support for the hop up unit if that breaks, it is also a very tight hop up unit so many rubbers simply won't fit, they tear instead. There is also no space for a good MOSFET, I've only managed to fit a PicoSSR2 in the gun but that burned out within 50 shots...

VFC guns chrono differently depending on when they were imported and who imported them. My SCAR was brought in to Canada from the states (it had an orange barrel tip) so it was shooting about 370 FPS. My SR16 was imported directly from Taiwan, so it came with a M130 spring and was shooting 450 FPS. It also came with a neodymium magnet motor because of the heavy spring.

If you like the SCAR better get the SCAR. If you like one of their AR variants better get that. You won't be disappointed.

Is a MOSFET necessary? I wont be going over a 9.6v battery

......I can not decide which colour I like better. I feel like im going to paint it anyways but I cant choose!

It's still better to have a MOSFET but mine was fine with a 9.6 and didn't burn out until I switched to 11.1 and it only lasted a few weeks.

In 2013, near 2014, there is absolutely no reason to not have a mosfet, except maybe space.

I really like the VFC externals. The 416 is one of the nicest looking guns I've seen. I myself like The G&G Top Tech Scar L better myself even though it's EBB. The Top Tech line is known for above and beyond quality internals. As for the externals go I think they are pretty dam good. For the same money why not get upgraded internals and not have to do anything to the gun you buy.... Just my opinion.

IMO if your planning on getting a MOSFET for a Scar, get a G&G to avoid having to require/chop up the stock. VFC is nice (external and internal wise), I own one, but had I planned on getting a brand new Scar and putting a MOSFET in it I would have gotten a G&G. A lot less hassle and it's not to far off from the VFC.

I just got a MK18 buy VFC and that thing is soild as a rock. Go VFC

I own a VFC HK416 and worked on my friend's VFC SCAR-L, both are excellent externally.

I think the SCAR is a bit tough to work with, especially if you are doing this for the first time. After working on numerous guns, I still think the SCAR is not as straight forward as your regular M4 variants. But if you're up to the challenge, it can be a good learning experience.

And, mosfet'ing a SCAR is possible. Not pretty, but possible. ;) This is a homemade 3034 mosfet.
