When're they going to make an Eotech replica, damnit.

Eddie February 11th, 2006 02:26

I don't think they will release a EOTech it maybe also due to the actual cost or reproducing the holographic system cheaply its not as easy as just a laser pointer.

btw AFAIK "when're" isn't a proper contraction

odp February 11th, 2006 03:50

Similarity to the real thing doesn't stop them from making crappy ACOGs.

DuffMan February 12th, 2006 05:14

Haha, sometimes I type as I speak, no one really verbally says "When_are". As odp said, they made RDS ACOGs, they don't need to make it holographic as long as it is a red dot of some sort. People who want a real holographic system can buy the real deal.

Eddie February 12th, 2006 13:08

Theres nothing special about acogs its just a maginifed scope. Now it they could put in working fiberoptic that would be something.

TH_CYRUS50 February 12th, 2006 14:22

What kind off scope is that, i do mean the scope not the red-dot.
Does any one has an idea.

I know this may be a stupid question, but what is that other part there. I've seen that before, but never seen what it actually does for the site. I'm talking about the other piece that has no lense.

TANK71 February 12th, 2006 15:44

It's a cover ! for the sight.

dman February 12th, 2006 16:15

Ooooooooh, right, right. I'd have never thought of that.

Well, just a really, really, good magnified scope. I'm also illustrating that it isn't necessary for knock-off companies to even try to imitate the original technology. Case in point, Guarder turning a 4x magnification ACOG into a 1x red dot sight. G&P makes an ACOG that has a fake fiber optic.

Not sure if this replica has the same functionality, but for the real steel doctersights, there is a light sensor on the front of the RDS. In a bright setting, the RDS will automatically adjust the LED output to maximum. As ambient light decreases, so will the LED output strength.

There is no brightness adjustment knobs or switches, nor are there any power switches. It is turned off by attaching the cover, which shrouds the sensor completely. The real steel versions will never turn off. There will always be a very small amount of light output, but apparently, the amount of energy it draws is negligible.

From the looks of the pictures, this replica also has a hole on the front where the sensor on the real steel is located.
