Holy crap, how did you manage to do that?

The part on the left is (was) your recoil spring cap, and on the right was the bushing.

My understanding is the bushing is compatible with the Marui one (Evike sells a steel replacement). But the recoil spring cap is different than on the Marui; not sure where you'd find a replacement.

As a side note, as on real 1911s, a field expedient replacement for a lost/broken mainspring cap is a spent 45 casing

It's a bit loose on the WE but it does fit.

Thanks, Drake. So Could you pleas tell me where can I find 45 casing ?

Cheers !

Your recoil spring is too much.. That's what I hear about WE's, their recoil spring are hard kicks. If that recoil spring cap is plastic, than switch it to metal, but if that's the WE's stock recoil spring cap, than WE makes shit metal.

It's metal, and made from China. It was cut very nice also, you can see in the pictures. It took me one day to find what the heck it that when I just saw only the ring.

Scarecrow sells dummy .45 rounds for $1. If they're real ones without powder and primer, you could remove the projectile with pliers and use the shell casing.

Thanks everyone for reply, Just another question

Do you know where can I order steel bushing, or you might have one please PM me ? I tried to order from Evike, but they charge me 17.95 $ ship with UPS. I really don't like to ship with UPS either pay 17 bucks for UPS. Thanks in advance.

www.airsoftparts.ca will have all the metal bushings you need.

Drake June 6th, 2008 00:42

I'm still baffled at how this happened.

For those not in the know, the WE 1911 uses a rim at the base of the mainspring cap to hold the cap inside the slide; even with the bushing removed, the cap usually won't come out the front of the gun as you'd expect on a 1911.

If the rim alone broke, it would still be held in place by the bushing, like you'd typically see on a 1911.

So for both the bushing and that rim to get broken, something really nasty had to happen?

Got a link? I don't see any.

EDIT: uh... on the now seemingly likely chance you're talking about mechbox bushings... re-read the thread. We're talking about a 1911, and therefor a 1911 bushing:

Oh crap. Sorry dude. Was 1 AM when I wrote that. I (wrongly) assumed you were asking about bushings (mechbox) as an addition to your original problem. Reread it now and it makes sense. Sorry about that. Shouldn't post advice when I'm half asleep...

You can get them from redwolf for the TM 1911. Not too sure if it'll fit the WE though.

I'm extremely skeptical that TM bushing will fit. Recoil spring plug, definitely not.

Clean the parts and try epoxying them back together.

I'd have to try swapping parts with Brakoo (he has a TM 1911).

HOWEVER!!! I just tried swapping both the bushing, the recoil spring cap, and both the bushing and the cap, with my Western Arms 1911, and to my surprise they fit fine.

That's right, the WE can fit WA bushing and/or mainspring cap.

Caveat lector: the design of the WA is more like a real steel 1911: the bushing transfers all of the stress from the mainspring and mainspring cap to the front of the slide. While the front of the slide is very thick, I don't know how the quality of the metal is. It shouldn't break. but then again neither should the cap and bushing. Although based on what I've read on other dboards, the WE 1911's bushing IS in fact problematic/prone to breaking.

Also if you go this route, you really only need the bushing. With the rim broken off the cap, you already have a WA style cap (just clean up the rear portion where the break occurred).

Several companies make aftermarket steel bushings for WA 1911s.

I've also read of people using real steel 1911 bushings, but they require modification/fitting.

That's interesting, makes one wonder if WE calipers touched a TM1911 at any point at all, or if it's a kitbash of WA1911 dimension and TM2011 gas system.
