Sooo many mp5's

As you know, theres lots of mp5 models

from mp5 navy, mp5k, mp5 a2a3a4a5 blah blah blah
I think I'm more interested in folding/retractable stocks.
Considering the likes of mp5 navy, mp5a5 and mp5sd6, which one is better?
(if they were all the same in fps and everything) does the sd6 version make a difference with it's big silencer?

Thanks =]

amano999 December 15th, 2008 14:44

The SD6 and SD5 silencers are more for show. Stock the barrel doesn't extend all the way into the silencer.

Nothing is better. It's about personal preference.
In airsoft, a TM or CA would be best. ;)

How about my UTG/TM/CA hybrid? lol

Crunchmeister December 15th, 2008 15:11

Or my CA / JG hybrid?

This thing is a beast. Externals are all Classic Army except the lower receiver which is the stock JG plastic lower. Internals are 100% stock, never opened JG. I replaced the stock JG motor with a stronger JG motor. It's at 38 000 rounds and unopened even for maintenance, and still going strong...

May I present to you, my favorite gun in my entire arsenal.

TM MP5K with full Systema / Prometheus upgrades to shoot 15 rds / second at 250fps, CA Metal body with PDW Stock.

This is my primary CQB instrument of death, gotten alot of kills from some pretty tight spots, amazing surpressive capabilities.

If you are of the shorter stature like myself, the feel of this gun is immesurably perfect for indoor use.

No words can properly describe my love for this gun...

ShadowNet December 15th, 2008 16:04

It's all about personal preference. SMGs are usually for CQB scenarios, though they handle pretty well in any airsoft situation. If you like compact MP5s, get the MP5K. There's no point in having a silencer on it - like what Amano999 said, it's just for aesthetic appeal. If you like the tactical feel, you can't go wrong with MP5s. If you want a RIS system built in, the MP5A5 from G&G is pretty good. Just choose whatever looks good to you. Most of the internals are the same, so it's whatever looks badass to you. If you are in Canada, your best bet is to get age verified. You gain access to the classifieds - which allows you to purchase full black/metal airsoft guns. If you don't mind having a clear upper receiver, you can get a high quality airsoft gun (G&G or ICS) MP5 from here. Just make sure you're 18+ and have government issued ID. Hope I was helpful.
Good Luck!

Great way to hide a custom cut 300mm inner barrel though! Side benefit of a 20fps boost.

I own two MP5s, an A5 with a folding stock (want a retractable stock so I can properly use my night vision scope for night games) that I have a Navy front end on with a Surefire flashiight internals, for CQB and also field use, and an almost 400fps SD with an M4 Slither Stock on for field use, painted camo.

Honestly, I've never owned another type of AEG besides my two MP5s, and like any airsoft gun, is all in how you use them. Never had any use for any type of Armalite M4 or variant, I see them all as more liabilities on the field (they break often, from my gun tech experience with most of the guns in Ottawa and a chunk from Montreal area, 75% of the fixing I've done have been those) than anything else. My MP5s have never failed me in the 5 years I've been using them, seems only at home I have had a couple parts (and mechboxes) break.

Oh ya, both are TM and mildly upgraded.

Dragate December 17th, 2008 06:09

oo thanks for replies guys

ya It think i'm definately digging the tactical flashglight with mp5a5/navy style flash hider. Also, i think the retractable//foldable stock for me is a must. I just think it looks so much nicer. Not much a fan of mp5k tho.

so CA is really high up there? along with TM?

No, not up there along with TM ...... CA is at a much higher level :D
Seriously, I think CA AEGs are much better than most of TMs (maybe with the exception of the M14).
Some people in the past reported some internal problems, but that seems no longer to be the case.

And for me CA makes one of the best, "sexiest" and sturdiest MP5s out there.
I particularly like the ones with the "SEF" fire selector; Just look at these :D

oh woowww
how much is the market value of these? like 600 bux?
I really like the mp5a5's, just not the flashhider, but they're removable right?

m102404 December 17th, 2008 09:15

give or take $100.

The big navy flashhider has a little serrated clip that holds it on. It slips over the regular "tri-lug" mp muzzle (which on most is threaded). Beware on some of the cheap clones...the threading can be horrible/marginal.

I personally prefer the tri-lug look...but my buddy loves the Navy style...whatever gets you up in the morning I suppose.

Retractable stocks look great..but they get wobbly with use. Not a big deal if you're not picky. Full stocks let you use big batteries (which rock). Otherwise you're stuck to minis in the foregrip...not a big deal at small skirmishes and stuff where there's plenty of breaks to swap out a battery.

The wiring in the flashlight foregrips can be iffy...the wires they use are pretty thin...do yourself a favour and tape over any exposed wires so you don't mangle them putting in/taking out your battery. Digging out the hotglue to get at the contacts is a freaking pain in the a&&. If you get an MP5 without a flashlight grip...skip on getting a clone one...their wiring is even worse and is so shoddy that it looks like it'll break if you breath on it hard.

Have fun!

arg that makes me wanna get a full stock but thing is it looks so uuugly... well imo...
*sigh*
battery or looks... hard descision

one more question
if u get a gun of ca quality and u were to put a 10v battery in, would it do damadge?
or safer to stick with 8.6 and just improve the mAH

I actually like the mp5navy style flash hider tho, I mite get one off ebay after haha :P
