New Field Ideas
Hi guys. My family owns a 50 acre plot of land, moslty forest with a few clearings that average a little less than an acre, and I wonder if it would make a suitable airsoft field. The property is in the Pefferlaw area, and I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions, because I don't know what's required.

Insurance...There are tonnes of things to take into consideration. I would reccomend playing for a season or two to get a good feel for the game.
|
My insureance is, if you hurt yourself on my property ill kill you!
anyways, do you really need insureance on a private field? |
Yup and with your flippant attitude towards it I can guarantee you'll be playing solely with your friends as no serious airsofter will vist it. Good luck to you though.

Twas just a joke, im looking for advice, not criticism on my forum conduct

How much does that sort of insurance cost, is there a FAQ about this?

At the top end.. say 5000.. that would mean if you ran 10 games in a season got a minimum of 25 players per game you would just cover your insurance costs.. if you charged $25 per person per game. You can run a private field.. with limited exposure to loss.. but if you choose to not insure the risk is substantial.. As a young person... it would suck to have a multi million $ judgement against you ( or even a few hundred thousand) due to the injury of a participant. It would ruin your future Sure its not that likely to occur... but it does happen. |
If you could get some of the better known game organizers to come check it out, and maybe even commit to hosting a couple games there each, you'd be able to see if you had enough for insurance.
If the game is hosted by people of reputation, people will come. |
Try actually playing for a while, making friends in the community and learning about the sport before jumping into this kind of venture. You are not the only one that has land for airsofting.

There are only a small handful of companies in Canada that handle insurance for a sport/hobby like airsoft, and its not that easy to aquire either. If you are interested in actually aquiring some information head down to your local brokerage and ask a broker for a listing of companies that supply insurance for extreme sports. Check out the websites if you are interested. Be warned though, policies do not come cheap. Your looking at anywhere from $3000, $4000 maybe even up to$5000 per year.

Most regional municipalites have by laws forbidding the discharge of firearms within the municipality .. and they define firearms as "anything that fires a projectile" You should check with the municiple by-law officer about the zoning. |
