Problem With Dboy's Aks-74u

Hey everyone, I've been thinking of putting a silencer and extended tight barrel in my Aks-74u. But when i try to take off my Flash hider, it won't budge.

I push down the pin that holds it,(it was glued???) and then i turn it. Yes i am turning it the right way. But it stops after about half a turn. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Maybe something else needs to be removed?

Erennert May 2nd, 2009 19:47

I don't think so, they are no other roles to remove any screws, or to further "unlock" the Flash hider. Thanks though ,Any other thoughts?

sounds like the thing is glued on if there is no set screw or pin holding it i would try using a cloth and pliers to apply more force to it. you were turning it clockwise right?

i had the same problem with my ak B and a flashhider. what i did was push down the button and turned slow but hard with plyers. Somethimes the hiders get glued shut after mounting (on mine) so i just left it in the sun for a few hours and presto!

It only budged when i turned counter clockwise, and i'll try the pliers, and report back. And NoGear, if the pliers don't work, i'll try that, thanks.

or just take a small lighter or torch to heat up this sucker... it should come right away!

Erennert May 2nd, 2009 20:10

Well, the pliers didn't work, so I'll try the lighter I guess.

i should of thought of that :)

if u accidentaly turned it the wrong way tighting it. I put a tiny bit of oil and turned the gun's barrel facing the floor so some oil can seep through and make the threads slipery and that works when my silencer gets stuck :)

This thing is not coming off! Lighter didn't work either....

Do not heat it up as you will most definitely melt the two rubber o-rings inside the flash hider.

What you experienced was the tightening of the collar between the outer barrel and hider.

Press down the release and turn the hider counter clockwise (lefty loosy) as the hider is threaded CW on the collar.

By turning it counter clockwise you will tighten the collar to the outer barrel but loosen the hider on the collar, the hider is actually tightened to the collar by the friction of two 2 rubber crush rings, the resistance you encountered most likely was the warping/twisting of the rings.

Once that's off, loosen the grub/set screw and turn the collar Clockwise as you normally would do to take off a muzzle device on an AEG.

My problem is that it won't budge, not at all, no matter how much force i put onto it. And don't worry, i only used a lighter until it was warm, nothing major. And i have been turning it Counter Clock Wise, but nothing.

Try some oil/ lube?

Erennert May 4th, 2009 01:24

Won't budge no matter what i do, I'm thinking they used like liquid cement on this thing.
