I've read some reports online that the edges of the gas tube and the notch have some burrs on some T56s, and owners will dremel the edges a bit to smooth it to make the batteries easier to insert. I personally run a 9.6V Intellect battery. I inserted it into the gun and just leave it there. It was tight, but it fits. I charge the battery in the gun.
