If you have a large field, then you need a radio with 4-5 watts of power. If guys each grab a typical consumer frs/gmrs radio from different manufacturers the CTSS tones can either be slightly off. I use the Yaesu VX177 UHF, it does need to be moded to cover FRS but it is easy to do. It is both commercial rated and sumersible.
