I'll help save you some space

Just have 6 mags on your rig + 1 in the rifle. Keep the remainder in a small backpack like a Camelbak HAWG or any other assualt or 3 day pack. You don't need to carry 2 bottles of water on your rig if you have a camelbak, keep them in the backpack. If you do have space though, just dump juice crystals(gartorade and crystal light is used a lot over there). You already have straight water in your camelbak, having the water bottle with juice crystals is good for keeping salt, etc in your body.

For mag pouches, might want to look into getting 2x triple mag shingles, then with the MOLLE on the front put another pouch to hold shotgun shells.

I'd go with the SPC, vs something bulky like a MTV.
