I wouldnt bother. Stay with the plastic body untill it breaks...then go metal. you'll get a few seasons out of it if you take good care of it.
BUT, I would avoide using the sling. The SR16 has terrible barrel wobbel and is VERY weak where the front end meets the reciever. I would strongly recommend AGAINST using a sling unless you have a metal body.
You see your RIS on the front, what I did was I pulled the upper hardgaurd cover back 2-3 inches so it covers both the RIS and the reciever rail. Its a quick, cheap fix to a big problem. It wont keep your gun from wobbling totally, but if you trip and fall, it may help keep it from snaping.
I own a SR16 and Im very happy with it. M4 benifits, with the ability to hold a large battery in the stock. Well balanced and makes for a good sniper platform.
