The longer barrel will have only slightly more range and accuracy if fps is kept low, but the more fps you put in her the more range and accurracy you will get. I reccommend getting the Rifle and not the carbine. The extra range and accurracy will be worth it.
I am personally getting the CA M15A4 Rifle (in a couple days hopefully) and I chose it over the carbine because I wanted more range, accurracy and the full stock for a large battery. I am planning on upgrading the gun to just under 400fps and using it as a sniper/assault weapon. I can let you know how the gun turns out if you want.
