CYMA mag fix...sort of.
Ok... so I bought a mid cap CYMA AK mag and dremel'd the front lip of the mag to fit the Galil. As you can see the mags are just about identical and the holes match up. Also, if you look carefully the AK mag is about a millimetre longer from front to back then the Galil Hi cap mag. I thought this might be an issue, but they both give the same amount of rearward play when in the gun.
Other than that, the AK mag fits in there like it was made to.
However.... after loading the CYMA mid cap and trying to fire, it shot one or two rounds then nothing. After a few tries I took out the mag to inspect it. I went to unload the mid cap and discovered the problem: The BB's are not feeding smoothly at all.
When I press the release on the a high cap mag, the bb's come flying out, with this CYMA, they stop and stutter taking a good shake to get am all out.
Is this typical of CYMA mags? Is there a remedy for this? Also, not sure if this is normal for mid caps as up until moving back home High caps where all I've ever used.
Once this feed issue is resolved, I think that these AK mags will work perfectly.
