I wear work boots personally, mainly because I need them for my job, so I just cycle the old pairs from work a little early. I know what a lot of people will say, too heavy, but these days you can get boots in Ballistic nylon with plastic toe cap/sole shank. They're a lot lighter, waterproof, full ankle support and as a plus, since outdoor fields enjoy using skids and plywood sometimes, if you step on a nail, it wont end up in your foot.
