In the case of an ICS hop-up, if you move/drop the nub by accident, only remove the cross-pin that holds the adjustment arm in place.

Even replacement hop-up units come with the dial ring already clipped, no need to remove it.

But yeah, basically set hop-up to zero, then remove barrel clip and pull the barrel. Sometimes you need to slightly twist it as it gets out because the rubber is stuck to the chamber. Not much more than 1/16 of a turn each way.
