i have had a WE 1911, and also had extensive use of my buddys 226. the 1911 as much as i hate to say it, does not handle abuse anywhere near as well....it has been dropped and shot, and racked by vets and noobs alike and broke in several spots. that having been said with all the breaking issues....she still shoots straighter then any other hand gun i have owned...PERIOD.
my buddys 226 has had equal chances in the abuse and firing catagorys...while it has with stood the test of time and still remained intact...the mags and firing pin are starting to drop...(makes it go full auto instead of just semi) but like sig claims....to hell and back reliability...and the mags are double stack instead of the 1911 single stack.
in the end i choose the 1911 even with the weaker body..(again it was a WE not a TM) but i think it was more out of looks and feel then superior gun. i find them both good rival guns..
