Are you sure you're turning the right way? If there's a set screw, did you loosen it?

It may help if we did not have to guess which gun? If it's your M15, which brand/make?

I think the vast majority of guns on the market use CCW threads, so you need to "screw" in order to unscrew it (ie turn in the opposite direction you normally would to unscrew something).
Also make sure there's no set screw on the flash hider (under it, usually), or you'll fuck up all the threading if you try and unscrew it without loosening the screw first.

edit- i got it!
Alright so its a G&P m4. There seems to be a small hole where the screw that you guys are talking about goes, but the screw isnt there, i can take a picture if it will help.
edit/ I got it, took a hammer and a butter knife but it worked, u have to turn it clock wise , as stated above! thanks guys! :salute:

Turning it 'right' to unscrew it is normal.

that's right!
Bike pedals are wacky too. Turn your bike upside down and they both turn away from the front of the bike...or else when you pedaled, one would fall off..of course people forget and crank one pedal on super tight when they are thinking it is coming off!
