WWII German - 2nd SS Waffen
Hey, I don't know if this is the right place but I'm not too good with peicing together proper kits, I mean I know my weapons, vehicles and history but I'm by no means an expert on uniforms or kit and I tried to figure out what I'd need on my own and realise "Hey....... you have no idea what you're doing" so I figure I'd ask for help. What would I need to put together a German 2nd SS Waffen kit? I mean everything as I'm helpless here :P
I'm currently looking for a K98 if that helps any. I'm broke as hell, but that's ok as I'm only in the planning stage right now, I've no problem with Repro gear as I'd feel really bad if I managed to destroy something real by treating it roughly in the field. If POSSIBLE, I'd like a kit that would allow me to have a Luger or P-38 ...... those guns are just downright sexy. I hope this is the right place to post this and DO realise I'm asking to be spoonfed but hey, I tried and realised I was WAY out of my depth :P

You're going to have to go repro for German uniforms and gear becasue anything authentic is going to cost you two armas and legs.

sometimes having an original uniform allows you to appreciate the history. Though it is not something you with to use in the field. Or you use knowing it might/will get wrecked.
I have a 1950's Air cadet uniform. Its original. I only wear it for show, not for play. |

I have always understood the attraction of collecting old uniforms (the link to real history etc), but wearing them for re-enactment?
I always thought the newer repro gear would be more suitable, after all, a soldier in 1944 would be wearing new(ish) uniforms, footwear, metal buckles and leather. Wouldn't real WW2 kit look faded, old and too worn for renactment (especially the leather)? It was over 60 years ago!

Well basic items you need for a Das Reich Grenadier impression
M43 Trousers M40,42 or 43 Tunic M42 Waffen-SS pattern camo smock Belt with a buckle Jackboots/ankleboots&leggings M43 Field cap/ M40 oversees hat Helmet Bayonet Ammo Pouches Breadbag with a canteen This is basic stuff, smaller staff (mess tin, shovel, gas mask container) can be claimed as "left in the trench/baggage train". Check out the EBay store "Spearhead Militaria"

Dont forget a Y-strap! Military Tour is awesome (Highly recommend for gear) and use Spearhead [eBay] for uniform. Prob the cheapest and fastest way to go.
Good luck and post your impression, another German is always welcome |

I am putting together an 1st Parachute Army FJ impression and here's where I got my stuff.
FJ Boots: http://atthefront.com/ Uniform: http://stores.shop.ebay.ca/Spearhead...__W0QQ_armrsZ1 Field Gear: http://stores.shop.ebay.ca/Memory1945__W0QQ_armrsZ1 FJ Helmet: http://www.ima-usa.com/ I purchased regular Y straps. There are FJ Y straps out there I just didn't bother. By Fall 1944 the Germans were more concerned about getting food and avoiding Mustangs and Typhoons than correct Y straps. For my 101st AB impression the pistol belt, shovel, mag pouches, canteen and some of the helmet parts are WW2 dated. |

Wanted to do a FJ impression but it has so many pcs and the boots are costly. I'm slowing putting together a couple of Heer & SS officer uniforms.

My FJ impression will be half-assed for quite awhile. I am just doing enough to fit the part for airsoft. All the finishing touches afterward are going to take awhile. Part 1 is just this stuff. FJ M38 Helmet FJ Spinter Camo Helmet Cover EM Cap Regular Y Straps Em Belt Type 3 Splinter FJ Smock FJ M40 Field Blouse FJ M38Pants FJ Boots MP40 Mag Pouches Everything else FJ related is going to take awhile. My 101st AB impression was expensive enough.
