Opinions on 4x drop switch magnifier and a red dot?

I ran a doctor on my 1.25-5x shortdot, I couldn't get it to zero properly because of the sight over bore factor and that the dot sight didn't have enough adjustment. I just ended up using it at lowest magnification.

How far are you sighting it in at? Maybe try putting a small shim (piece of rubber or plastic) between the sight and the rear sight clamp. This would raise the rear of the sight slightly and at 50ft or so should be able to sight in at all 5 magnification settings.
