are airsoft grenades safe?
My son plays airsoft. He is wanting to buy the mad bull RG108 grenade to play with. I didnt see a problem with it until he said it runs off of propane. Is it safe for a 14 year old to play with an airsoft grenade that runs off of propane?

It has proven rather safe. Im sure other people on this board will agree. Your son being 14 they will not so much approve of. This sport tends to be 18+ in canada, the US is much more forgiving about this.

you have to be 18 in the us to buy airsoft supplies but he and a group of friends got into it. If he fills it up and doesnt carry the propane around with him, is there any way that the grenade will blow up or do anything unsafe?

Anything that expels a projectile will always be dangerous. As with any airsoft product you must use appropriate precautions.
The propane is not used as a combustible propellant; it is stored under pressure inside the grenade and is used to project the BBs strictly through gas pressure (approx. 125 psi) when the valve is opened by firing the grenade launcher. |

Hmm, I'm glad that we have strict rules about minors playing airsoft... I'm shocked that no one has told him to buy his son a paintball gun instead, haha.

pressurized air usually means means there will be moisture, which is no good for any device internals.

Pressurizing air requires a compressor and the air remains in a gaseous state. You would require complicated and expensive equipment and a larger gas reservoir to achieve the same results as a liquified gas. rexdlu, does that look like a Madbull RG108 grenade as the poster stated in his first post? ![]() |
