It only fire one round at a time (requiring a pull on the charging handle for every shot), then after 4 or 5 of those, it lets out a massive fart and dies. Don't know why; I've stripped it down and inspected it several times and nothing appears broken.

Try firing the gun while holding the magazine as high up as you can with your hands and report back if that fixes it or you get the same thing?

I agree, mine clocked at 327fps - 333fps at my last game with a new cartridge in the mag. And if you learn to burst fire the gun instead of emptying the mag then it's a playable machine pistol at mid to close range. And the loud ratttattatata is sooooo fun.

I'd really love to but my work contract ends today and they can't afford to renew it so spending is on hold. Especially sucks since there are two on sale in the classifieds. Oh well I'll aim for around Christmas time.

MP7's are fun. I'm only semi-retired from airsoft...not dead...I got bored one afternoon and made a rail system for mine

. I think it turn out ok.

Now that some buddies have seen it, I'll put up the pics here.

BTW...my MP7 chronied at 500fps w/.20s last night...which is a little hot so I've got some retuning to do...lol
