Optic + MBUIS recommendation
Hey guys
Got a gas gun with MBUIS and was considering adding an optic to this setup and would like some advice; It's an M4 with a Noveske RAS (or RISm keep mixing both styles' names). So there's no triangle front-sight. Ideally I'd like a simple optic, maybe in the style of an M1 or something like that, ideally with some magnification... probably something between 2-4x although this would be a nice to have, pending prices. If I'm going the magnified route, I'd rather avoid the flip-to-side solution, and would still need to be able to use the iron sights. Reason for this: 1 - pricing, as I'm sure adding a magnifier to a non-magnified optic will double (or close to) the price. 2 - Gun is the Magpul KWA LM4, and the upper receiver is in 3 parts, the top rail being clipped between the two halves of the upper (yeah I know, wth?). I read that some guys had problems with the top rail snapping or getting wobbly when using flip-to-side optics... Mine is rock-solid at the moment and would like to keep it that way, so yeah... I already own a EOtech 552 repro, like it, but would like to try something else. Thanks for you recommendations! |

If you don't want a flip to side magnifier, then your only real choices are a 1-4x Elcan or if you can find it a screw on 2x magnifier and a Aimpoint M3 red dot sight. G&P makes a screw on magnifier for the Aimpoint, I believe theres a review on here somewhere.

Hmm ok
I read that most 1-4x elcan were mostly crap because of the dot shifting between one setting or another (and have no budget for the RS price) I'll take a look at that screw-on thingy Would that kind of setup still allow the use of the iron sights though? Would I need some kind of riser? |

I had a Aimpoint Comp M4 reddot and I was able to co-witness the front site, same with my T-1 set up so I can't see a problem with co-witnessing with a screw on magnifier. Your front sight will be a bit blurry while the magnifier is fitted but it screws on and off so if your outside nd need to go inside and CQB you just screw it off and away you go til its needed again. Another option is an 4x ACOG with RDS in place of the ACOG iron sights. You can also get the 4x Elcan Spectre with a RDS which would aleaviate the wandering zero problem the 1-4x has.

Yes thats what I meant, that way you have 4x and a red dot all in one unit.
