Cheap, crude landmines... but they work real good
One day my friend came to our little 5 man skirmish with some home-made landmines... they were so simple and crude, but we were surprised on how well they worked as either following the rules of a landmine or just as warning devises on giving away your oh-so stealthy advance.
They are easy to make and cost under $5 a piece, maybe less all you need is -mousetrap -small nails -cap gun caps -fishing line -scotch tape (additionally i carry around scissors) sorry for the bluriness on the pictures, its a weird camera They may be effective but they are a pain to set up sometimes, as they are very sensitive, and take some time to set up in the field http://www.airsoftcanada.com/attachm...tid=3570&stc=1 PHOT0014.jpg http://www.airsoftcanada.com/attachm...tid=3571&stc=1 PHOT0015.jpg http://www.airsoftcanada.com/attachm...tid=3572&stc=1 PHOT0016.jpg drill a hole through the trap that lines up with the "trigger" and thread a string through that, tie onto the trigger. then nail four or so nails into the top edge, and then bend them to line up with the swinging bar. I wrapped the top end with electrical tape to keep the wood from splintering, and nailed two more nails into the bottom edge so it can be stuck into the ground. Then when out in the field just place 4 caps overtop of the nails, and tape them in place, set up your trip line, then set the trap. its quite sensitve and actually quite loud and was shocked at the small cloud of smoke that came from the caps. so whenever your driving to your next event and realize you forgot your mines, just drop by a hardware store or dollar store and build one of these in 10 minutes |

Mouse trap + finger = not feild legal!
Sorry but all these mouse trap ideas ussually get shot down for the same reason. God forbid any guy mishaps across one in the wrong way.

I can understand the reasoning behind what you say. I wonder could there not be some kind of compermise?. Take the simplistic rig and use another simple idea. Put it in a faux case( I kinda picture a simulated claymore body, due to the curvature of the face which would allow his mouse trap hammer to swing. I would think that this idea would eliminate the pinch hazard and also the possability of flying debris. I am pretty sure that it would eliminate the " smoke" effect he describes but with the right design could possiably ampilfy the sound slighty. I would also reccomend using thread as a trip wire insted of fishing line. I would hate for someone to trip over it at a run and hurt themselves. The thread is biodegradable and costs a lot less, I would think it would be more than strong enough to trip the mouse trap. also maybe a arming pin so you can have it preloaded and once it's set pull pin to make it hot after it's set not during lol sry if I am way off base but I think that my idea would satify everyone. But plz tell me if there are any faults in the concept. I would be really interested in what eveyone thinks |

Same idea but cheaper and less complicated.
http://www.milsimlabs.com/airsoft%20...rap%20mine.htm I have doubts as to whether you could import the stuff, but it shouldn't matter if it's just some aluminum devices.

It may not look "milsim", however it would protect against injuries from the mousetrap without restricting the smoke or sound effect. |

I dont see the problem with mousetrap + finger, I've accidentally snapped those things on my fingers a couple times when setting them at my cottage and it hurt less than a 400fps BB at 20' in my opinion.

LUTNIT the thing is some people can take it, others not know its going to happen its going to hurt like a B***
Its the same as that BB, you get shot in the game you barely feel it because you are all hopped up on adrenaline. But in the safe zone where your just loading your guns and filling up, it hurts a like a B*** when someone shoots you there. Cuase A. You weren't expecting it, and B. You don't think anyone is stupid enough to shoot in the safe zones.

You know this guy has a good idea. I was wondering where there caps would go until I got to the end and I don't think that with the nails in the way you'd have too many people catching thier fingers in the trap. The box around it is also a good way to keep any one grom hurting them selves. I'm gonna try this out. Thanx man. I'll get back to youy and tell ya what I come up with.

Why not build something quiet simple.
Build a small wood box around one of those cheap small CO2 bottles that has a pin that when the top is depressed it punctures the top of the bottle venting the gas. Similar to the CO2 ones that you can buy. You can get 25 packs of those bottles for like $10 at a ANY crappy tire too. Personally if you yourself are not willing to set the mouse trap off IN your own hand before setting this out in the feild I really wouldn't recommend the mouse traps. Specially when there are so many other ways out there. Like fire alarms for example. Stick a batter in one, wire it so that when the top is pressed it goes off! Only need to modify the test button really. Unless you're smoking out in the feild real close to the ground. Yeah I'm looking at you Stalker! :P just kidding. That way its easily reuseable. Not to mention that there are ways to rewire them up to have trip lins and all sorts of different applications to them. Anything that can hurt someone is probably not the best way to go. And yes I know LUTNIT we are shooting at each other here. But you wanna go crawling along and roll to cover to take this thing on your ear; nose, neck, face, etc etc.?
